Fix: High on Life UE4-Oregon Error

According to several reports, High on Life players keeps getting the UE4-Oregon error which basically closes the game and prevents them to get into it. Affected players have no idea why the ‘Game has crashed’ error message is appearing without any proper reason or warning message. The chances are high that somehow an outdated graphics driver, an outdated game version, not running the game as admin access, etc can be a reason behind it.

Whereas issues with the overclocked CPU/GPU, unnecessary background tasks running all the time, unlimited FPS count, and more can also trigger such an error. Fortunately, some of the troubleshooting methods did help players resolve such an issue and so you can also try them out. Now, without further ado, let’s get into it.

1. Run the game as an administrator

Make sure to run the game exe file as an administrator to avoid user account control regarding privilege issues. You should also run the Battle.net client as an administrator on your PC. To do this:

Right-click on the High on Life exe application file on your PC.
Select Properties > Click on the Compatibility tab.

Make sure to click on the Run this program as an administrator checkbox to checkmark it.
Click on Apply and select OK to save changes.

Note: You should also run the Steam or Epic Games Launcher as an administrator on the PC using the same method whatever you use.

2. Update the High on Life Game

We should also recommend you check for the game update manually at your end via the Steam or Epic Games Launcher to ensure there is no outdated game version conflicting with the game launching. An outdated game patch version can trigger several potential issues that might trigger crashes whatsoever. To do this:

For Steam:

Open Steam and go to Library.
Click on High on Life from the left pane.
Steam will automatically search for the available update.
If there is an update available, click on Update.
Make sure to wait for some time until the update completes.
Once done, ensure to reboot the PC to apply changes.
Finally, you may not face the UE4-Oregon error while launching High on Life.

For Epic Games Launcher:

Open the Epic Games Launcher > Head over to Library.
Now, click on the three dots icon next to High on Life.
Make sure the Auto Update option is turned on.

3. Verify and Repair Game Files

It’s needless to say that issues with corrupted or missing game files on the PC might encounter game launching crashes a lot without any proper error message in some cases. If in case, your game starts to load for a few seconds and then closes automatically or doesn’t launch at all then it’s better to verify and repair the installed game files on the PC by following the steps below. Some players have already fixed the UE4-Oregon error on the PC.

For Steam:

Launch the Steam client > Click on Library.
Right-click on High on Life from the list.
Click on Properties > Go to Local Files.

Click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.
This process may take some time to get completed. So, have some patience.
Once done, make sure to reboot the PC to apply changes.

For Epic Games Launcher:

Open the Epic Games Launcher > Click on Library.
Click on the three-dots icon next to High on Life.
Click on Verify > Wait for the process to complete and restart the launcher.

4. Close Unnecessary Background Tasks

It’s recommended to close all the unnecessary background running tasks on your system by following the steps below because the more system resources will be used the higher your system performance will drop. You may not notice it drastically when you face in-game lags, framerate drops, stutters, etc. But this method should be useful for you in many ways.

Press the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys to open Task Manager.

End Task Manager

Click on Processes and check which task is consuming higher resources.
Just click on the particular process and select End Task to close it forcefully.
Make sure to do the same steps for each third-party app process that is consuming higher resources.
Once done, close Task Manager, and restart your PC.

5. Restore Default to Overclocked CPU or GPU

Sometimes overclocked CPU or GPU on the PC might cause conflicts with the other hardware which may trigger a bottleneck issue. It’s better to temporarily disable or restore the overclocked CPU/GPU to the factory default so that you can check out the potential reason behind the crashing issue. There are multiple tools available online to adjust overclocked CPU or GPU on the PC such as MSI Afterburner, Riva Tuner, AMD Ryzen Master, EVGA Precision X, etc.

6. Reinstall the High on Life Game

If the above methods didn’t come in handy then you can try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it again on the PC. It should help in restoring the default configuration and other necessary files to run properly on the Windows system. To do that:

Click on the Start menu and search for Control Panel.
Open Control Panel > Click on Uninstall a Program.
Locate and right-click on High on Life > Select Uninstall.
If prompted, click on Uninstall again to confirm.
Wait for the uninstallation process to complete. You can follow the on-screen instructions to do so.
Once done, make sure to reboot the PC to apply changes.
Finally, open Steam or Epic Games Launcher, and reinstall the High on Life game again.
