Update as of October 5: Good news for Vivo users as they are now a step towards as Google just announced the Android 12 AOSP and Vivo (and other OEMs) can start their work on stable Android 12 updates now. The first of smartphones to get Android 12 will commence later this year. 

Update as of September 16: After Oppo unveiled its ColorOS 12 based on Android 12, it is Vivo that is teasing the arrival of FuntouchOS 12 based on Android 12 in India as per the teasers on its official website. Vivo is one of the popular smartphone brands that offer stunning devices in every segment based on Android OS on top of Funtouch OS. Meanwhile, Android 12 Beta 1 is now available for a couple of device models. Whereas the company has announced the all-new Origin OS skin for its Vivo & iQOO devices that was introduced with Android 11 last year. This Chinese smartphone OEM is literally taking on Xiaomi, OnePlus, Samsung, etc brands in the market competition whatsoever. Whereas Vivo releases beta programs for developers and beta testers based on Android OS.

Although Vivo isn’t known for its frequent or scheduled software updates, the company has improved its software update frequency a lot. The brand is also focused on pushing the early adopters’ update to a limited number of interested users via batches which is a really good thing. Currently, the Vivo is pushing the Android 11 update to its devices on top of Funtouch OS 11.

UPDATED: Google has already released Android 12 Beta 5 at the time of writing this and it can be summoned as the last platform stability update. The next update will be Android 12 stable AOSP touted to arrive on October 4 although the date needs to be confirmed officially at the time of writing this.

It’s also worth mentioning that Google has also released the Android 12 GSI build for the Project Treble compatible devices. So, if in case, your Vivo device is not on the eligible list to receive the Android 12 official stable update or if you don’t want to wait for more, you can always flash the GSI package.

Whereas except for Vivo iQOO 7 Legend model, no other Vivo device will gonna receive the early beta build officially for now. Although Vivo hasn’t mentioned any of their devices for the Android 12 eligibility, here we’ve managed to provide a list of Vivo devices that may gonna receive the same.

Update as of October 6: Well, if you are an iQOO 7 Legend user in India, you are in for a treat as it is being reported that the device is intercepting Android 12-powered FuntouchOS 12 as per user reports. Note that it is still unconfirmed officially so take it with a grain of salt.

It’ll take some time for Vivo to announce the Android 12 early beta program for its eligible devices depending on the region because mostly the beta program goes live for the Chinese variant to test it out.
