Solution 1: Update AOD and Switch to Scheduled or Power saving Mode

  1. Download the OnePlus AOD app on your phone.
  2. Launch the app, select UPDATE and wait for the installation to finish.
  3. Open the Settings app and got o Personalisations -> Always On Display.
  4. Tap on Display options and either select Scheduled or Power saving mode. If you select the Scheduled option, you’ll need to specify the time during which the AOD feature will remain enabled.

Solution 2: Reset Your OnePlus Phone

Some users were able to fix issues with the Always on Display on their Android 12-based OnePlus phones after resetting their phones. Please note that resetting the device might remove all data on your phone. Therefore, take a complete backup on your phone before resetting your phone.

Here’s how to reset any OnePlus phone:

  1.  Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap on System.
  3. Select Reset options.
  4. Now, tap on Erase all data (factory reset).
  5. If you want to remove all data on the internal storage, toggle Erase internal storage.
  6. Click on ERASE ALL DATA.

The device will take some time to reset the phone. After it is done, your OnePlus phone will restart automatically. Once done, enable the Always On Display feature and check if the problem is solved.

Solution 3: Firmware Update

If none of the above methods have worked in your favor, you will have to wait for a new software update that might contain a fix for the Always-on Display issue. OnePlus keeps on sending minor software updates that include fixes to known issues. And hopefully, the company might be working on a fix for the AOD issues.
