Updated on November 19, 2020: Xiaomi rolled a new update to Redmi Note 9 globally with version V22.214.171.124.QJOMIXM which brings September 2020 Security patch and bug fix.
Updated on June 05, 2020: Xiaomi rolling the MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 9 (codenamed: merlin) globally. The update is rolling with software version V126.96.36.199.QJOMIXM brings many new features based on Android 10. If you want to try, you can manually install the MIUI 188.8.131.52 Global Stable ROM for Redmi Note 9.

Updated on June 05, 2020: Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 receives stability update which improves the device performance along with security patch (May 2020). The update is rolling globally via OTA with MIUI Version V184.108.40.206.QJOMIXM. With this update, software bumps from MIUI 220.127.116.11 (V18.104.22.168.QJOMIXM) to MIUI 22.214.171.124.
Updated on March 27, 2020: Today Xiaomi rolled the May 2020 security patch to the Redmi Note 9 (Codename: merlin) globally with version V126.96.36.199.QJOMIXM. The update brings no major changes apart from the security patch and bug fixes. If you are using the Redmi Note 9, you can manually download and install MIUI 188.8.131.52 Global Stable ROM on Redmi Note 9 based on Android 10.
As we speak, the update has already started rolling over the air for users globally in a phased manner. It may take days or weeks to reach every device around the corner. In case, if you are not patient enough to wait, then follow this guide to install the update on your Redmi Note 9 (merlin).

Manually Check OTA Updates
Before moving to the guide, we recommend you to first check if the OTA is already available for your device manually. To do that, go to the phone Settings > About Phone > Software update. Additionally, you can perform this task via the Software Updater app directly. If the new software version is available, you can grab it.
Before downloading the OTA update, make sure to charge the phone battery up to 50% minimum and connect to a Wi-Fi network.
