Download Motorola Moto Z2 Play Android 9.0 Pie update: PPS29.133-30

Though Motorola is one of the most popular OEMs in the world, its software update support is not that fast. For instance, we can talk about the Motorola Moto Z2 Play. This device is currently receiving the Android 9.0 Pie update officially. It’s over one year since Android Pie publicly released. In fact, we now have the Android 10 rolling out to the major devices. Motorola is pretty late in rolling out this much-awaited system update. So, imagine those enthusiasts who sport a Moto Z2 Play but struggling on an older Android OS.

Around four months ago, Motorola officially announced to upgrade Z2 Play with Pie OS. However, as they say, better late than never. The Moto Z2 Play is finally stepping up its game to Android 9.0. Currently, this system update is seeding in Brazil. It comes with this version number PPS29.133-30. Along with the system update to Pie, the Z2 Play is also getting the September 2019 security patch.

Keep in mind that your device needs to run the stock Android OS so that it can upgrade to the new stock Android Pie OS.

The software update is rolling automatically. Usually, bigger OS updates are always incremental in nature. So, in a few days from now, the Pie update should be available globally. It will not be available for everyone at one time. However, instead of waiting, you can manually check for the presence of the new system update. Go to device Settings > System Update > tap on Check for Updates.

System update files that roll over the air are usually of huge size measuring in gigabytes. So, we suggest that you try to use Wi-Fi for easy download and installation of the Android 9.0 Pie update for Motorola Moto Z2 Play. Also, make sure your phone is not going to run out of juice while you are busy updating. That would delay the update process unnecessarily. So, it’s wise to charge the device completely before performing the update to Pie OS.

With Android Pie, Z2 Play users will get popular navigation gestures. Also, other features like improved Quick Settings, dedicated screenshot button, smart message replies will be available on the Moto Z2 Play after upgrading to Android Pie. The Pie OS will also bring improved Neural Network API and the popular Autofill framework.
