I unlocked the bootloader using Linux platform tools. Changed into platform tools dir. Following the commands until it got to BOOT TO DOWNLOAD MODE, there was no such command so I went into FACTORY MODE and then entered fastboot command followed by the code from Motorola and then it unlocked the bootloader.
