Fix: Virgin Box Keeps Rebooting or Turning Itself Off/On

A user wrote, “I placed it [Virgin Box] into a 10 port extension cable along with a few other stuff and all of a sudden it randomly starting turning off and it tried to restart 3 times before actually turning back on, this started off at once a day, then just got gradually worse, to the point it was turning off every couple of hours, I thought the extension may of caused this, so I plugged the Virgin box into the wall socket and it worked great for a day, then all of a sudden, it happened again, as you can imagine, this is very very annoying, especially when I’m watching Derren Browns shows and it misses the most important bits!!!“. – source

  3. Wait for a minute and then plug the back into the socket.

Solution 2: Check if the Cables Are Damaged

If the Virgin Box keeps rebooting, there is a possibility that the power cable or any other connecting cables are damaged. Inspect all cables for any damage. If found, replace the cable with an original one.

Solution 3: Try Using Virgin Box on a Different TV

We need to ensure that there is no problem with the television to which the Virgin Box is connected. To rule out this possibility, use the Viring Box on another compatible TV. If the Viring Box works perfectly on another TV, you know the problem lies in the TV you used. If the problem persists, the problem lies in the Virgin Box.

Solution 4: Clean the Ports

It is not uncommon for dust particles to stuck inside the ports. If the amount of dust is too much, it can cause problems. Therefore, cleaning the ports at least once every 2-3 months is always recommended. Unplug all cables from ports, clean the dust, and re-plug all cables to the ports. After that, turn on the device and check if the problem is fixed.

Solution 5: Contact Virgin Customer Support

If none of the above solutions have worked out for you, there’s likely some problem with the hardware. Either it could be a faulty hard drive or a motherboard problem.

To check for the fault in the hard drive, remove the device and turn on the Virgin Box to check if the problem persists. A better approach is to use a spare drive. Make sure that the hard drive is connected properly.

The motherboard is probably damaged if the problem is still there even after replacing the hard drive. You can’t do much in this case. You need o contact Virgin custom support to get your device repaired or replaced.
