Well, to be very precise, the particular error “Disconnected: EAC: EAC Disconnected” is mostly troubling the Rust players whatsoever. ‘EAC’ stands for ‘EasyAntiCheat’, a security service that protects the game and other genuine players from cheaters and hackers. Coming to the possible reasons behind such an issue, it seems that missing or corrupted game files on your computer may also trigger the EAC disconnected error. Whereas running the game executable or client executable without the admin permission can also trigger the integrity error. Additionally, issues with the internet connection or even issues with the installed EAC certificate can be another reason.

1. Verify Game Files

Rust PC gamers on Steam can follow the below steps to easily verify and repair the missing or corrupted game files because in some cases some of the internal game files may get affected due to several reasons. It’s always recommended to repair your game files from the Steam client to cross-check that nothing is creating a problem with the game files. To do so:

  • Open the Steam client > Make sure that you’re logged into your valid account.
  • Click on Library > Right-click on Rust from the list.
  • Click on Properties > Select the Local Files tab.

  • Next, click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.
  • Wait for the process to complete. Once done, make sure to restart the computer to apply changes.

Finally, you can run the game to check whether the Integrity Error in Rust has been fixed or not.

2. Give Admin Privilege

Well, giving the admin privilege to the game executable or even the client executable file is necessary in order to properly run the game by any means. This is one of the most common issues for PC users because they don’t run the program with admin access mostly and it ends up with multiple issues with the applications or games.

  • Right-click on your Steam.exe file or the desktop shortcut file.
  • Click on Properties > Go to the Compatibility tab.
  • Checkmark Run this program as an administrator.
  • Now, click on Apply and then OK to save changes.
  • Finally, you’re good to go.

Again you’ll have to give admin access to the game file. To do that:

  • Open the Steam client > Make sure that you’re logged into your valid account.
  • Click on Library > Right-click on Rust from the list.
  • Click on Properties > Select the Local Files tab.
  • Select Browse Local Files > Right-click on the Rust.exe file.
  • Select Properties > Go to the Compatibility tab.
  • Enable the ‘Run this program as an administrator’ checkbox.
  • Click on Apply and then OK to save changes.

3. Power Cycle Your Router

If in case, your game is still facing the error then make sure to check your internet connection. Sometimes a slower internet speed or unstable network signal can also trigger multiple server connectivity-related issues for the online multiplayer video games. Additionally, you should try using a wired (ethernet) connection if you’re using a Wi-Fi connection or vice-versa to cross-check the problem.

Meanwhile, you should also perform the power cycle to your Wi-Fi router because sometimes the router system can store several temporary cache data which troubles you a lot. To do this:

  • Turn Off the Wi-Fi router > Make sure that LED indicators are completely turned off.
  • Now, disconnect the power cable from the router > Wait for around 30 seconds.
  • Then plug back the power cable in and turn on the router again.
  • Connect to the Wi-Fi network and check if the Integrity Error in Rust or EAC Disconnected error has been resolved or not.

4. Set DNS Settings to Default

if you’re still facing the problem, make sure to turn on the UPnP settings on your router’s admin panel. Just log into your router’s admin panel via a web browser and go to the Advanced / Port Forwarding option. Next, make sure to enable the UPnP option.

Additionally, you should check whether you’ve selected the DNS address settings to its default mode or not. To do so:

  • Click on the Wi-Fi or network icon from the Taskbar.
  • Click on Network & Internet Settings > Click on Change adapter options.
  • Right-click on the active internet adapter that you’re using.
  • Select Properties > Double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
  • Make sure to select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.
  • Now, click on OK to save it and restart your computer to apply changes.

  • Now, open the Steam client > Make sure that you’re logged into your valid account.
  • Click on Library > Right-click on Rust from the list.
  • Click on Properties > Select the Local Files tab.
  • Select Browse Local Files > Next, right-click on the Rust.exe file.
  • Choose the Open file location option from the menu.

  • From those files, there is a Certificate Import Installer (looks like paper with an orange ribbon).
  • Now, double-click on that file to open the Certificate Import Wizard.
  • Select Local Machine from the Store Location option > Click on Next to continue.
  • Select Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of the certificate and click on Next.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts step-by-step until you see the Completing the Certificate Import Wizard message.

Don’t worry about the saved game data because it’ll be kept safe to the Steam server. So, just log into your existing Steam account and then reinstall the game to get back your game progress.

  • Now, press Windows + I keys to open Windows Settings.
  • Click on Apps > Scroll down to the list of installed programs and locate Rust.
  • Single-click on Rust and select Uninstall.
