How to Fix High PING in League of Legends

Regarding online multiplayer battle royale video games, League of Legends from Riot Games stands out quite ahead. It’s also known as League or LOL that has been launched back in 2009 and inspired by Defense of the Ancients (a custom map for Warcraft III). Recently, Riot Games pushed Patch 11.20 Notes, but somehow players are getting High PING in League of Legends quite often. If you’re also one of them, you can follow this guide.

The LOL players seem to be encountering higher ping or latency issues while connecting to the server or during the multiplayer gameplay. It’ll prevent players from getting into the server at the requested time and they may get kicked out of it for no fault from their sides. Even though the internet connection is good enough for most of the players, the higher ping issue has become widespread.

How to Fix High PING in League of Legends

How to Fix High PING in League of Legends

The best part is that League of Legends shows ping details and FPS (frames per second) count in the gameplay’s top-right corner of the screen. You can check the same by following the steps below:

  • Start a new game in League of Legends > Press the Ctrl+F keys on the keyboard to showcase the ping and fps count on the screen on the top-right side.
    • However, if this doesn’t show the details, click on the gear icon (in-game settings menu) from the top-right side.
    • Click on HOTKEYS > Go to Display > Expand the drop-down list > Set Toggle FPS Display to CTRL+F shortcut.
    • Click on DONE to save changes > Go back to the gameplay screen and press the Ctrl+F keys now to get displayed the ping & fps count.

If in case, the ping rate is more than 100ms, that means you’re getting higher ping (latency) to the server and that can cause lags or glitches in the gameplay and it’ll eventually become irritating for a longer period of time. In higher cases, you’ll be kicked out from the server due to the connection timed out or can’t connect to the network error.

Luckily, we’ve shared a couple of possible workarounds for you that should be useful in most scenarios. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.
