  • The EpicInstaller file won’t appear in the list of apps > Hit the Browse button.
  • Go to the saved file location > select the File Type as ‘All Files’.
  • Then select it and go to ‘Open’ > Select the ‘Add a Game’ window.
  • Select ‘Add selected programs’ > Steam will now recognize the installer file.
  • Find it in your Steam Library by searching for ‘Epic’ > Right-click on it.
  • Select ‘Properties’ > Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab.
  • Checkmark the ‘Force the use…’ box > Select the latest installed version of Proton from the drop-down menu.
  • Epic Installer wizard will start on Steam Deck > Close the Properties window and launch the installer in Steam.

  • Open the Dolphin File Manager > Click on the three-dots icon in the top-right corner.
  • Then select ‘Show Hidden Files’ > Go to Home > Select .local > Choose share > Choose Steam > Select steamapps > Select compatdata.

  • From the ‘Shortcut’ field, Delete the existing shortcut path and paste the copied location.
  • Paste the same location path in the ‘Start In’ field and remove ‘EpicGamesLauncher.exe’ from the end of the path. [Without quotes]
  • Once done, close the window > Launch the installer in Steam and open Epic Games Launcher.
  • Now, log in with your existing credentials and open the Epic Installer’s Properties again in Steam.
  • Delete ‘Win32’ in both the Shortcut and Start In fields, then replace it with ‘Win64’.

Note: Some Steam Deck users may face accessing the MicroSD card. By default, the Epic Games Launcher can only install games to the Steam Deck’s internal storage due to a Proton limitation. You can fix this by opening the Dolphin browser and locating ‘primary’ in the Removable Devices option, and clicking on it.

  • Click on the top of the Dolphin browser window > Click on ‘Primary’ to see the file path.
  • Make sure to highlight and copy the path > Go back into Steam and open the Properties menu of the Epic installer.
  • Scroll down to the ‘Launch Options’ field > Manually type in STEAM_COMPAT_MOUNTS=.
  • Next, paste the file path then put a space > Add %command%.
  • Close the window and select the microSD card as an installation location for Epic Games downloads.
  • You’re done.
