Update as of June 29: Earlier, Oppo stated that its Android 10-based ColorOS 7 beta update early bird recruitment program would commence on June 29. It has kick-started the program. It is set up with a quota of 5,000 units that will get an update on Oppo K1 in China. Note that those units running on C.62 will be eligible for the update and they will likely get it by July 3rd.

Update as of July 29: Oppo has increased the quota of Oppo K1 running on Android 10-based ColorOS 7 to 10,000 which is twice the quota it set last month. The update is limited to China although other regions can expect it to arrive soon although there’s no ETA. [Source]

Update as of July 31: Oppo K1 is under beta testing phase for Android 10-based ColorOS 7 for ages now. With the latest update in place, the stable Android 10 could arrive as early as August 17 along with its sibling Oppo R15x. It is imminent to release the stable update Oppo recently increased the quota of testers. [Source]

Update as of August 28: Oppo K1 users have been waiting for the Android 10 update for a while now. The phone got its first beta for Android 10 in July, however, it was limited to China. A month later, Oppo released a stable version of Android 10 based on ColorOS 7 for K1 users in mid-August. However, it was limited to a handful of users in China and thus, users outside China were left unanswered and waiting for it. The company hasn’t responded on when it will roll out Android 10 for Oppo K1 although it has maintained that the update is not available and that they will be informed once the update is available. [Source]

Update as of September 1: Oppo K1 hasn’t received its share of Android 10-based ColorOS 7 yet. Although the smartphone has been under beta for almost two months after it reportedly entered the beta stage in July in China, the update is nowhere to be seen yet. When an user asked about when to expect Android 10 on Oppo K1 in India, the official Twitter handle of ColorOS said that there’s no information about the update available at this moment. Anyways, the update could be around the corner as it was already in beta. Take it with a pinch of salt as we will continue updating the story around K1 and Android 10 update.  [Source]

Oppo R15x

Update as of June 29: As the same with Oppo K1, Oppo has kickstarted the Android 10-based ColorOS 7 beta update recruitment on Oppo R15x units in China. Those who are eligible for the update should get it by July 3rd. Note that only 5,000 beta testers will be eligible for the update limited in China.

Update as of July 29: Recording the response from the beta testers, Oppo has increased the set quota of testers to 10,000. The update is still limited in China and soon, it will be available elsewhere although we aren’t aware of it yet. [Source]

Update as of July 31: Just as Oppo K1, Oppo increased the quota for Oppo R15x as well for Android 10-based ColorOS 7 beta. Apparently, a report hints that the device will receive an official stable upgrade as early as August 17 although there’s not much information available with it. If the source is true, Oppo is bang on when it comes to rolling out updates as it is timely no matter what. [Source]

Released in the Year 2018

Note that the smartphones introduced in the year 2018 are technically eligible to get Android 10 since they are still covered under Google’s two years of support for major Android updates. However, it is also Oppo which can exclude or include devices that will get the major update which means not all smartphones of 2018 will get the update but here’s a list of all the phones and the probability of getting an update until an official list is not available from the Chinese OEM.

What to do if your Oppo smartphone is not eligible for Android 10?

Even though there are stacks of phones released in 2018 and 2017 that might get Android 10 update, only a handful of the devices are actually eligible. The timeline could vary from a few weeks in case of Oppo Reno which supports beta Android 10 updates to few months for other smartphones released in 2019 such as Oppo F11, F11 Pro, A1K, etc to get the firmware. Moreover, phones released in 2018 which are supported to get further update will take more time to get the firmware such as mid-2020 or even by the end of 2020. But as said, only a handful of devices will get it and the rest of all will have to either stay happy with the firmware they got the last update to or they can check out if their phones support custom ROMs based on Android 10 if they want to try this year’s Android OS.

There are many custom ROMs to try such as the LineageOS which is developed its 17th ROM based on Android 10 and it is expected to be released early next year. Similarly, there are custom ROMs like OmniROM, Resurrection Remix ROM, Paranoid ROM, Pixel Experience, etc that might get Android 10 based OS as well so you can check ‘em as well. Furthermore, if your phone supports neither the stock Android bundled with Oppo’s UI and nor the custom ROMs, you can upgrade to a newer device if you are eager to try Android 10 without any fail.
