OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G was launched in India recently with MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC under the hood and comes with a 64-megapixel triple camera setup. The handset runs on Android 11 out of the box. OnePlus finally started pushing their new major OS update, OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G based on Android 12. The update is now started rolling around the globe.

As per some reports, it is said to be rolling as a stable build with OxygenOS 12 for users around the globe. With this, OnePlus has included the latest July 2023 Security patch, which fixes many security bugs and vulnerabilities.

Android 12 and Its Features

Android 12 is all about improved personalization and revamped user interface that changes the way to bring more dynamic expression and a whole new design element. It’s a successor of the last-gen Android 11 which was basically focused on the privacy and security of the user data. OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G Device Overview:

The Oneplus Nord CE 2 features a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is an FHD+ panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The screen is protected by corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, we have MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G built on a 6nm manufacturing process. It is an octa-core processor with two Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. For handling the graphics-intensive tasks, we have the Mali-G68 MC4.

In terms of optics, we get a triple camera setup at the rear and a single camera at the front. The triple camera setup consists of a 64 MP primary sensor paired with an f/1.8 lens, an 8 MP ultrawide sensor paired with an f/2.2 lens, and a 2 MP macro sensor paired with an f/2.4 lens. At the front, we have a 16 MP sensor paired with an f/2.4 lens. The rear setup can capture 4K videos at 30 fps, while the front camera is limited to 1080p video recording.

The smartphone runs on Android 11 out of the box with OxygenOS 11 skin on top. The phone comes in two storage options: 128GB + 6GB RAM and 128GB + 8GB RAM. There is also a dedicated MicroSD slot for storage expansion. For communications, we have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C 2.0. And for sensors, we get an under-display optical fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. Powering it all is a 4500 mAh battery that can be topped up quickly using the 65W fast charging adapter included in the box. The smartphone is available in two color options: Gray Mirror and Bahama Blue.

Steps to Install Android 12 (OxygenOS 12) on OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G

Before installing the Android 12 (OxygenOS 12) on your OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G, make sure to follow all the pre-requirements at first and install the required drivers, firmware, and other tools on your PC as well.

Pre-Requirements:

  • The firmware is only supported for the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G model. Don’t try it on other devices.
  • You will require a Windows PC/Laptop and a USB cable as well.
  • Make sure to download the latest OnePlus USB Drivers on your Windows and MAC computer and install it.
  • Download the ADB Fastboot tool on your PC and install it.
  • Keep your device battery charged at least up to 60% before installing the firmware.
  • Take a complete backup of your phone data without Root.

First method via Local upgrade 

  • Download the firmware OTA zip file from above and move it to the internal storage on your OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G device.
  • Now, head over to the Settings > System Updates > tap on gear icon > use the Local Upgrade.
  • Select the firmware file which you’ve downloaded before.
  • You will see a pop-up screen to upgrade your device, tap on Upgrade Now.
