Starfield has just been released, and it’s already a huge hit. Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, the action role-playing video game takes you to the Milky Way galaxy, which can land on over a thousand planets.
If you’re a gaming enthusiast, you’d want to tweak a few settings for better control and performance. You might also look for the save file location to save a copy of your game progress, settings, and preferences. Finding the Starfield save and config file locations on a PC can be tricky. We have done it for you, so you won’t waste time navigating through dozens of folders.
Starfield Save and Config File Locations on PC
Starfield Save File Location
Starfield save files are located at this location: C:\Users\[Your Username]\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Saves
[Important: You must replace “Your Username” with the actual username of your PC.]
The Saves folder contains all your saved files.
Starfield Config File Location
The Config file for Starfield can be found at C:\Users\]Your Username]\Documents\My Games\Starfield\
At this location, you will find the “StarfieldPrefs” file. This is the configuration file of Starfield that you were looking for.
As mentioned before, you have to replace “Your Username” with the actual username of your PC.
[Tip: Navigating through these files can also be time-consuming. We can narrow it down further using a Windows feature “Run”. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box. Copy and paste the location path (after replacing the username) and tap on OK. You’ll quickly get to the required location.]
Starfield does not allow players to change all the settings in the Config file. Only a couple of them can be tweaked, which are:
- Render Quality
- Dynamic Resolution
- Film Grain Density
- Motion Blur
- AMD CAS Sharpness
- Resolution Scaling
That’s all you can edit within the Config file of Starfield. To edit this file, you can use a simple text edit such as Notepad.
[Warning: You should not make changes to the Config file if you are not confident about the Config file coding. Even a minor mistake can bring a lot of issues. So, only make changes if you are confident that they won’t create any problem.]
That’s it for this post. I hope you were able to easily find the Starfield save and config file locations on your PC. If you can’t, reach out to us via the comments section. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
