Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max Device Overview

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max features a glass body design and has a punch-hole display with the same 6.67-inch display and FHD+ resolution and features a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back and a brightness of 450 nits which sounds excellent. Technically speaking, we didn’t find any difference in both the displays of Redmi Note 9 Pro and Pro Max. The main difference lies in the camera department and the storage and RAM options. This device also features a quad camera setup. The primary is a 64MP sensor, and there is an ultra-wide 8MP sensor, a 5MP sensor for macro shots. It also supports 4K video recording. The camera on the front is 32MP.

The battery is of 5020mah here and supports fast charging and gets an inbox fast charger of 18W. The RAM options here have increased by an 8GB variant, and the storage remains the same. This device has the same processor as the smaller sibling the 720G clocked at 2.3Ghz, which handles every task thrown with ease. Also, this device has all the required sensors and fingerprint scanner as well, although both the phones are the same in their specification chart on paper, at least.

Steps To Root Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max via Magisk

First of all, you should unlock the bootloader on Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. Then you can continue with the next steps.

Unlocking the device bootloader and installing root will void your phone warranty (if applicable). The process also will wipe out all the internal data. Therefore, take a complete backup of device data at first before doing anything. Download Stock ROM and Extract the Boot Image

Download ADB and Fastboot files and extract them in the C:/drive. (Windows/MAC)
Download and Install Xiaomi USB Drivers.
Download Latest Redmi Note 9 Pro Max Stock ROM

Once you have downloaded the exact firmware file based on your device model number, you can extract the boot.img file to patch it via Magisk manager app.

1. How to Extract and Patch Boot Image using Magisk?

First of all, download and extract the ROM to your PC.
Attach your device via USB cable and copy only the boot.img file from the extracted folder to your device storage
Launch Magisk Manager. When a popup appears asking to install Magisk, select INSTALL and choose install again.
Tap on “Patch Boot Image File”.
Navigate to internal storage and select your phone’s boot image that you transferred earlier.
Wait for a couple of seconds. Magisk will start patching the boot image.
Once the boot image has been patched, copy the “patched_boot.img” from the internal storage and replace it in the ADB fastboot extracted ROM folder on your PC.

Now you can follow the second step to flash the patched boot image file.

2. How To Install the Patched Boot Image on Redmi Note 9 Pro Max

Follow the given link to install Patched Boot Image on Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max:

We assume that you have already downloaded the ADB & Fastboot tool from the link given above.
Now, extract the ADB fastboot tool, then move the patched boot image to the same folder.
Hold the Shift key and right-click on the mouse to open the command window/PowerShell.
Next, enter the following command:
- Flash the “patched_boot.img” to install Magisk and root your Android device:

fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
```
- For devices with A/B partition system, use the following commands:
```
fastboot flash boot_a patched_boot.img

fastboot flash boot_b patched_boot.img
```
  Please replace [patched_boot.img] with the name of the boot image file you downloaded followed by the .img extension.
The flashing process will begin. Once done, run
```
fastboot reboot
```

How to Verify if your phone has a systemless root?

Download and install the Magisk Manager app APK, and launch it.
To verify that you have a systemless root, check the top of the screen and if you see all options with Green Tick which means you have successfully rooted and bypassed SafteyNet.
