How To Delete Search History On Facebook

Your privacy is important, not only in real life but also in social media. Facebook has a feature to search for anything you want, and sometimes having someone peeping on your phone can risk exposure to your search history. So it might be better just to clear out your search history from Facebook if you don’t want anyone to know what you look for.

Facebook’s search history information is critical to any user. Any ad agency can use this info to fill up your phone with ad notifications related to your search. We never really know which app is keeping track of what in most Android devices, and there has been news about Facebook selling out their user data. So it is best just to clear out your search history on Facebook and stay safe as much as you can. In this article, we will guide you through the process of clearing Facebook’s search history.

Deleting your search history:

On your smartphone:

Deleting search history will stop Facebook from using its algorithm to display results and ads depending upon your recent searches. You can use this method on your iOS or Android device, and all you need is the latest version of the Facebook mobile application.

  • Open the Facebook app on your device.
  • Tap on the profile icon on the top right corner. This is the icon with your profile picture in it.
  • Now just below your profile photo, you will see a bunch of options. Next to “Edit Profile”, there is a “More” icon with three dots on it. Tap on it.
  • Now you will see a new menu popping up. Choose the option Activity Log.

  • Here you will see a list of all your recent activities on Facebook, including new friends addition, new tags, new comments, etc. On the top, there is a little option that reads “category”. Tap on it.
  • A drop-down menu will show up, and you will see a list of all types of Facebook activities. From here, choose “Search History”.

  • Now you will see a list of all your recent searches. There is a cross next to each search.
  • If you want to individually remove a particular one, then tap on the cross next to that search.
  • If you want to clear your entire history, tap on the option Clear Searches on the top. This will clear out the whole list.

On your browser(For the classic theme users):

  • Visit Facebook home page.
  • Log in to your profile if you haven’t done it already.
  • Click on your profile icon on the top left corner on the main page.
  • In the Profile page, inside your cover photo, at the right bottom, you will see the option Activity Log. Click on it.

  • Now you are in the activity log page. Click on the small “more” option on the left side of your page, right under “Likes and Reactions” and “Comments”.

  • Here in the extended list, you will find “Search History”. Click on it.

  • Now you will see the entire search history list.
  • If you want to remove these searches individually, just click on the Edit button on the right-side of these searches and choose the option Delete.
  • Confirm your action if a pop-up shows up.
  • If you want to clear out the entire list, then click on the Clear History option on the top of the list.

On your browser(For the new Facebook theme users):

  • Visit Facebook home page.
  • Log in to your profile if you haven’t done it already.
  • Click on the small down arrow icon in the top right corner.
  • Click on the option “Settings and Privacy”.

  • Click on “Activity Log”.

  • Click on the filter option on the menu to the left and select “Search History”.

  • Here on the left, you will see the option Clear Searches. Tap on it, and it will clear out your entire search history.
