How to Fix Halo Infinite Mouse Lagging or Not Working

According to multiple reports on the Halo subreddit forum, Halo Infinite players can’t fully move the mouse in 360-degree or you can say in the horizontal aiming mode. For some unexpected reason, the game is unable to figure out your default mode of input which is more troubling for players. So, whenever players connect the mouse after launching the game or while using their Xbox controller, the mouse-related problem appears.

Halo Support has officially acknowledged this issue on its support page. So, the affected players may have to wait for some time until developers come up with a patch fix soon. Meanwhile, if you can’t deal with the mouse lag or not working issue then make sure to follow the possible workarounds mentioned below that should gonna help you.

1. Reboot Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite is currently in its beta testing phase that should have some issues or bugs whatsoever. So, it’s always worth recommending to close the game properly and restart it to check for the issue.

If you’re in the game, you’ll have to go to the Home Screen by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard. If you’re on the Xbox home screen then head over to Halo Infinite > Press the ‘Windows + M’ keys to open the Menu. Then use the arrow keys to go to the ‘Quit’ option and hit the Enter key to select it. Once the game is completely closed, open Halo Infinite again from the home screen.

2. Connect Mouse before launching the game

Not being able to use the mouse in the game is frustrating a lot for the Halo Infinite players. As connecting the mouse after launching the game causes the issue, we’ll recommend you connect the mouse before launching the game to check for the issue. It’s happening due to a bug that can be fixed by the patch update. Meanwhile, you should try plugging in the mouse and keyboard then start the game. If this method didn’t help, try the next one.

3. Update Mouse driver

It’s also worth mentioning to update the mouse driver on your PC to check for the issue. Sometimes an outdated mouse driver can cause several issues with the performance of the mouse cursor. To update it:

Press Windows + X keys to open the Quick Link Menu.
Now, click on Device Manager from the list > Double-click on Mice and other pointing devices.
Right-click on the particular mouse that you’re using.
Next, select Update driver > Choose to Search automatically for drivers.
If there is an update available, the system will automatically download & install it.
Once done, restart the computer to apply changes immediately.

If you want to update the keyboard driver then make sure to do the same steps for the ‘Keyboards’ adapter too.

4. Avoid connecting a controller

Try avoiding connecting a controller on the device while using the keyboard and mouse to play the Halo Infinite game. It may possible that due to the external peripheral conflict, the mouse isn’t responding properly or doesn’t work well with this particular title. Some reports are also claiming that the ‘mouse not working’ issue appears while players launch the Halo Infinite game on the Xbox console and the controller is connected to the console.

So, if you’re prioritizing the mouse and keyboard to play the Halo Infinite game then make sure to disconnect the controller for a while to check if the problem still persists or not.

Even if your controller is connected to the PC and you’re using the keyboard & mouse to navigate and play the Halo Infinite game then make sure not to use the controller for navigating the in-game menu. As of now, it looks like that the game bug is causing issues with the mouse and keyboard input. Whereas the game finds it hard to switch between mouse and controller for navigating the in-game menu whatsoever.

For some reason, the game’s system is prioritizing the controller over the mouse even though both are connected and both should be registered smoothly. Well, there is nothing extra you can do right now until the problem gets fixed by the developers. We’ll have to wait further if the problem persists.
