Fix Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Windows Version Error

Luckily, we’ve provided the supported versions with the build number of Windows OS below for your ease.

Windows 11 (All versions)

Windows 10 Version 1909 (Build 18363) or Newer

Windows 10 LTSC 2021 or Newer

If in case, you’re using the required or higher version of Windows OS on your PC then the game should run fine. However, if you’re still facing the same issue quite consistently then make sure to follow all the troubleshooting methods below until the problem gets fixed for you.

1. Run the Game in Compatibility Mode

First of all, you should run the game executable application file in the Compatibility Mode on Windows to ensure there is no compatibility issue triggering the Windows version error. As you’re using the Steam client on the PC to launch Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, you can enable the compatibility mode for Steam only. To do that:

For Steam:

Just go to the Steam installation folder on the PC. [Default location is – C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam]
- If in case, you’ve installed Steam on a different location, head over there.
Now, find the Steam.exe application file > Right-click on it and select Properties.
Then click on the Compatibility tab > Click on the Run this program in Compatibility Mode for: box to check/enable it.
Next, select Windows 7 or Windows 8 from the drop-down list.
Finally, click on Apply and then OK to save changes.
You can reboot the PC to change effects immediately.

For Game File:

Head over to the installed game directory > Right-click on the SpiderManRemastered.exe file.
Click on Properties > Click on the Compatibility tab.
Click on the Run this program in Compatibility Mode for: box to check/enable it.
Next, select Windows 7 or Windows 8 from the drop-down list.
Finally, click on Apply and then OK to save changes.
You can reboot the PC to change effects immediately.

2. Update Spider-Man Remastered

Sometimes an outdated game version can trigger multiple issues with launching on the PC apart from crashing, lags, stutters, etc. It’s also recommended to check for the game update manually by following the steps below.

Open the Steam client > Go to Library.
Click on Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered from the list of installed games on the left pane.
Now, the client will automatically search for the available update.
If there is an update available, you’ll see the Update option, and click on it.
Wait for a couple of minutes or so until the game update completes. [Depends on the storage space and internet connectivity]
Once done, make sure to close the Steam client.
Finally, reboot your PC to apply changes.

3. Update Windows

Running an outdated Windows OS version or outdated build can also trigger multiple issues with the game launching on the machine. It’s better to check for the available updates and install them manually. Make sure to follow the steps below to do so:

Press the Windows + I keys to open up the Windows Settings menu.
Click on Windows Update from the left pane > Click on Check for updates.
If there is an update available, you should select Download and Install.
Wait for the update process to be completed.
Once done, reboot your PC to apply changes.

You should also check for the optional updates by following the steps below because some of the device driver updates and security patch updates may appear in the following section.

Press the Windows + I keys to open up the Windows Settings menu.
Click on Windows Update from the left pane > Click on Advanced Options.
Now, scroll down a bit and find the Additional options section.
Click on Optional updates > If there is an update available, make sure to select the update.
Click on Download & install > Reopen the system once the update is installed.

4. Verify and Repair Game Files

The chances are high that missing or corrupted game files on the PC may occur some issues with the game launching. You should follow the steps below to verify and repair game files on the PC.

Launch the Steam client > Click on Library.
Right-click on Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered from the list of installed games.
Now, click on Properties > Go to Local Files.

Click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.
You’ll have to wait for the process until it gets completed.
Once done, just restart your computer to apply changes.

5. Update Graphics Drivers

You should also try checking the graphics drivers update on your Windows PC and installing the latest version will ensure to reduce game launching issues or crashes, and more. To do that:

Right-click on the Start Menu to open up the Quick Access Menu.
Click on Device Manager from the list to open the interface.
Now, you’ll need to double-click on Display adapters to expand it.

Next, click on Update driver > Choose Search automatically for drivers.
The system will automatically check for the available update.
If an update is available, it’ll automatically download and install the latest version.
Once done, make sure to restart your PC to apply the changes.

If you can’t find any updates, you can go to the official manufacturer’s website and manually download the latest graphics driver for your respective graphics card model.

6. Reinstall Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered

If none of the methods worked for you, make sure to uninstall and reinstall Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered game on the PC to ensure there is no conflict with the game files. Problematic installed game files can eventually trigger several issues with the launching. To do so:

Press the Windows logo key on the keyboard to open the Start menu.
Now, type Control Panel and search for it > Click on it from the result.
Click on Uninstall a program > Search for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered game.
Click on the title and select Uninstall > Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process.
Once done, reboot the PC to apply changes > Next, open the Steam client.
Search for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and install the game again.
