Fix: TCL Smart TV Not Loading Any Apps

Having a smart TV with no apps working on it is just like having the old days TV with the cable connection where you had limited options for what you could do with your TV. It’s primarily the applications that make the TV smart (so to say) by allowing us to do multiple things like watching favorite shows or web series anytime, playing games, web browsing, etc.

Softwares have sort of revolutionized the way we use our TVs. Loads of content are available across many streaming services. So, you’ll never have to strive for new content. Not in the mood to watch web series or movies? You can listen to songs, play games, browse the internet, and do many more things. But what if any apps are not loading on your TCL smart TV? Here are a few things you can try to fix the app loading issue on your TV.

Restart Your TV

This is the age-old effective method to fix common errors on your television. There could be an issue with the background process that refuses the app to load on your TCL smart TV. By restarting the device, app apps get refreshed, which might fix the issue.

Here’s how to restart your TCL smart TV:

  1. Grab the remote, press the Home button, and select Settings.
  2. Go to System > Power.
  3. Click System Restart.
  4. Press the OK button to confirm the restart.

If you could not perform a restart on your TV using the steps mentioned above, simply plug out the power cable from the wall socket, wait for 1 minute, and plug the cable back into the socket.

Update Your TCL Smart TV

Running an old or outdated firmware version often puts the device in problem. Companies release new updates that include fixes to previously known issues. Therefore, even if you don’t face any issues on your TV, keep your device updated with the software version available.

Here’s how you can update your TCL smart TV:

  1. Press the Home button on your remote.
  2. Go to Settings > System > System Update.
  3. Click Check Now, and the device will start checking for new updates. If a new firmware is available, the device will automatically start downloading and installing.

[Note: Do not switch off your TV until the installation process is complete. After that, the device will automatically reboot.]

Reinstall the App

There might be an issue with the application, so it is not opening. The app will show signs that it is opening but then closes automatically. If the above methods do not work, you’ll need to remove and reinstall that particular app.

Go to the application manager option inside the Settings and remove the app to delete an app. After that, download it from the Google Play Store. TCL Roku TVs do not come with Google Play Store. So this method will not work on that type of TV.

Network Connection Reset

The device might be having an issue with the internet connection. Many apps do even open if there is no internet connection. If you can’t access the internet on your TCL smart TV, here’s what you can do to restore the internet connection:

  1. Press the Home button on your remote.
  2. Go to Settings > System.
  3. Select System Restart and tap on Advanced System Settings.
  4. Click Network Connection Reset and then tap on Reset Connection.

Factory Reset Your TV

In case none of the methods have worked out for you; we are left with the reset option, which does the trick most of the time. Probably, it will work for you too.

Here’s how you can reset your TCL smart TV:

  1. Press the Home button and open Settings.
  2. Go to System Advanced System Settings > Factory Reset.
  3. Select Factory Reset Everything.
  4. Click OK to perform a factory reset.
