This error means that a game you are attempting to play is still running. If you are getting this error, force quit the game or application using your Task Manager.

A. Close the game via Task Manager

  • Press CTRL+ALT+DEL > Click Task Manager.
  • Click Processes > Find the game that’s still running and click on it.
  • Click End Task > Relaunch your game.

B. Close a third-party launcher via Task Manager

Some games use a third-party launcher before they start. If you exit a game that uses a third-party launcher but the launcher doesn’t shut down, this might cause the error. Follow these steps to force quit the launcher:

  • Right-click your taskbar, and then click Task Manager.
  • If a launcher is running for a game and you get this error click on the process and click End Task. (The example below is from Civilization VI)
  • Launch your game.

28. LS-0019: Prerequisites installation failed

This error code means that the prerequisites for a game have failed to install correctly or completely. This error code may also appear as:

  • LS-0019-IS-IZ01
  • LS-0019-IS-PQR3010

This is common when you don’t have the necessary permissions to install files or your computer requires a restart.

A. Run the Epic Games Launcher as an Administrator

  • Exit the Epic Games Launcher by right-clicking on the system tray icon and clicking on Exit.
  • Locate your Epic Games Launcher shortcut.
  • Right-click on it > Click on Run as Administrator.
  • Click on Yes on the pop-up that appears.
  • Once the launcher finishes loading, try launching the game you’re trying to play.

B. Restart your computer

Some of the prerequisites that games install require a restart of your computer before the game is able to run such as the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables:

  • Click on Start > Click on the Power icon.
  • Click on Restart.
  • Once your computer finishes restarting, start the Epic Games Launcher and try launching the game you’re trying to play.

C. Use the -SkipBuildPatchPrereq launcher option

  • Close the Epic Games Launcher entirely.
  • Right-click on the Epic Games Launcher shortcut and click Properties.
  • At the end of the Target line insert the following:
    -SkipBuildPatchPrereq
    Example: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Binaries\Win64\EpicGamesLauncher.exe” -SkipBuildPatchPrereq
  • Click on Apply.
  • Right-click on the Epic Games Launcher shortcut.
  • Click on Run as Administrator.

D. Reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables

  • Install  Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio.
    • On 32-bit Windows install vcredist_x86.exe.
    • On 64-bit Windows install both vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe.
  • Install the latest version of the Epic Games Launcher.
    • You can download the latest version by visiting the official Epic Games website > Then click on Get Epic Games in the upper right corner.

29. Cyberpunk 2077 error: LS-0019-IS-PQR1638

If you receive this error when you try to launch Cyberpunk 2077, follow these steps to launch the game using REDlauncher:

  • Close the Epic Games Launcher by right-clicking on the system tray icon and clicking on Exit.
  • Locate the folder where you installed Cyberpunk 2077.
    Note: The default installation directory is C:\Program Files\Epic Games\
  • Run REDprelauncher.exe to launch Cyberpunk 2077 through REDlauncher.

Note: If you don’t have this option, run setup_redlaunch.exe first.

  • Click Play in REDlauncher to launch the game.

30. LS-0021: Your account doesn’t own this game

We released Ownership Verification built into the Epic Games Launcher as outlined here. If you are seeing this error code trying to play a game on your account then your account doesn’t own the game.

A. Verify you’re using the valid Epic Games account

You’ll want to make sure the account you’re logged in has completed a purchase for the game you are trying to play.

  • Go to the www.epicgames.com website.
  • Login to the Epic Games account that you’re using.
  • Hover over your name in the top right corner and click on Account.
  • Click on Transactions.
  • Determine if you have a purchase on the account or not.

If you see a completed purchase for the game, double-check if you’re logged into that account on the Epic Games Launcher. If you’re not, log out and log in with the correct one to access your game.

If you don’t see a completed purchase for the game here you’re not logged into the correct Epic Games account. You’ll have to determine the correct one to log in that you previously made a purchase on. If you aren’t able to locate the account please reach out to us and we’ll be glad to help you locate it.

31. LS-0022: Your account doesn’t own this game

We released Ownership Verification built into the Epic Games Launcher as outlined here. If you are seeing this error code trying to play a game on your account then this means we can not confirm ownership of the game you are trying to play. This could be caused by local network connection issues, by temporary issues with our backend services, or by not being logged into the correct Epic Games account.

A. Network connection troubleshooting
Make sure to run through all our common network troubleshooting steps such as checking the Epic Games server status page, trying wired internet connectivity, disabling Windows Firewall, turning on VPN or Proxy server, switching DNS, etc. Then try to log in to the Epic Games Launcher again.

B. Verify you’re using the valid Epic Games account

You’ll want to make sure the account you’re logged in has completed a purchase for the game you are trying to play.

  • Go to the www.epicgames.com website.
  • Login to the Epic Games account that you’re using.
  • Hover over your name in the top right corner and click on Account.
  • Click on Transactions.
  • Determine if you have a purchase on the account or not.

32. MD-0005: Unable to download manifest file

This error is usually caused by a service outage or network connection issue on your end.

A. Verify Epic Games service Status

Confirm our services are all online and working as expected by visiting our status page here.

B. Network connection troubleshooting
Make sure to run through all our common network troubleshooting steps such as checking the Epic Games server status page, trying wired internet connectivity, disabling Windows Firewall, turning on VPN or Proxy server, switching DNS, etc. Then try to log in to the Epic Games Launcher again.

33. MD-0011: No valid manifest file to download

If you pre-purchased a game and receive the MD-0011 error, the game has not been released yet. Once the game is released, you’ll be able to download the game successfully.

If the game you’re trying to play has been released and you’re seeing this error, the Epic Games Store team will need to correct a configuration issue. Please click on Contact Us to submit a support ticket.

34. PI-UBI-01

There are many variations of the PI-UBI-01 error code. Some of the most common errors and their resolutions can be found below.

PI-UBI-01: 101000

A. Restart the Epic Games Launcher

  • Right-click on the system tray icon in the bottom right corner.
  • Click on Exit.
  • Relaunch your Epic Games Launcher.

PI-UBI-01:102004

This error means that there is a trial or beta on your account that can no longer be played. If you are seeing this error when trying to launch a game, double-check that you are not trying to play a trial or beta for a game that is no longer available.

PI-UBI-01: 102008

  • Make sure that you are not using a VPN when trying to play the game.
  • Restart your computer and try launching the game again.

Any other PI-UBI-01 error codes require the assistance of Player Support to resolve. Please be sure to let us know what game you’re seeing the error with when contacting us.

35. PI-UBI-02

If you receive the PI-UBI-02 error code when trying to access any Ubisoft title, then follow the steps below:

  • Restart your machine and try to access the game again.
  • Ensure you are not using a VPN.
  • Ensure you do not already own the game from Uplay.

If you continue to see the error, or if you already own the game from Uplay, be sure to let us know what game you’re seeing the issue with.

36. SU-MD-HSH: Failed to asynchronously deserialize a manifest

This error occurs when the launcher tries to asynchronously deserialize a manifest when there is a mismatched hash value.

For Windows:

  • Exit the Epic Games Launcher entirely by right-clicking on the tray icon and selecting Exit.
  • Navigate to the following directory: C:\Users\username}\AppData\Local\EpicGamesLauncher\Saved\Config\Windows
  • Open the Engine.ini file in a text editor.
  • Edit the file to include the following:
[Launcher]
ForceNonSslCdn=false

Note: If the file has the above entry saying true change it to false. If you don’t see the above entry at all in the file then copy and paste it into the file.

  • Save the file.
  • Try launching the Epic Games Launcher.

For Mac:

  • Exit the Epic Games Launcher entirely.
  • Navigate to the following directory:
    /Users/{user name}/Library/Preferences/Unreal Engine/EpicGamesLauncher/Mac/
  • Open the Engine.ini file in a text editor.
  • Edit the file to include the following:
[Launcher]
ForceNonSslCdn=false

Note: If the file has the above entry saying true change it to false. If you don’t see the above entry at all in the file then copy and paste it into the file.

  • Save the file.
  • Try launching the Epic Games Launcher.

37. SU-BI-CA: Build info client auth error

You may run into this error code due to a network connection issue preventing you from being able to authenticate. You can see if this error is happening by reviewing your Epic Games Launcher log files. For more information on how to locate these click here.

Below is an example from a log file suffering from this error. It reveals that the player is unable to connect due to an SSL timeout resulting in a server connection failure:

A. Disable Background Apps and Tasks

  • Right-click on your taskbar > Click on Task Manager.
  • Click on the Startup tab > For each application enabled on startup select them and click on Disable.
  • Restart your computer to apply changes.

If the problem still persists, then try following steps too.

  • Right-click on your taskbar > Click on Task Manager.
  • Now, click on the Processes tab > Click to select tasks that are unnecessarily running in the background and consuming enough system resources.
  • Click on End Task to close it one by one.
  • Once done, restart your system.

B. Use the -SkipBuildPatchPrereq launcher option

  • Close the Epic Games Launcher entirely.
  • Right-click on the Epic Games Launcher shortcut and click Properties.
  • At the end of the Target line insert the following:
    -SkipBuildPatchPrereq
    Example: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Binaries\Win64\EpicGamesLauncher.exe” -SkipBuildPatchPrereq
  • Click on Apply.
  • Right-click on the Epic Games Launcher shortcut.
  • Click on Run as Administrator.

C. Network connection troubleshooting
Make sure to run through all our common network troubleshooting steps such as checking the Epic Games server status page, trying wired internet connectivity, disabling Windows Firewall, turning on VPN or Proxy server, switching DNS, etc. Then try to log in to the Epic Games Launcher again.

38. “Your account is unable to download any more free games at this time” error

If you receive this error while attempting to claim a free game, try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Turn off your VPN if you are using one.
  • Try using a mobile device while disconnected from wifi.

If you still can’t claim the free game, wait at least 24 hours and then try to claim the free game again.

39. UP-01 Errors

UP-01 errors occur when you’ve encountered some internal failure or when the parameters passed to the Mod Uploader are missing or invalid. To resolve these errors:

  • Make sure you have valid parameters, if applicable.
  • Restart the app.

40. UP-02 Errors

UP-02 errors occur when there’s a network error. To resolve these errors:

  • Check your network connection.
  • Restart the app.

41. UP-03 Errors

UP-03-001 and UP-03-002 errors occur when the selected directory is empty or does not exist. To resolve these errors:

  • Click on Retry.
  • Select an existing directory that contains the build.
  • Proceed with the upload.

The UP-03-003 error occurs when the upload files are not in Draft/Changes needed status. To resolve the error:

  • Recall the mod for further changes or choose another one that is in Draft/Changes needed status.
  • Restart the app.

42. UP-04 Errors

UP-04 errors occur when there’s a problem with your authentication. To resolve these errors, make sure you’re using the correct user credentials to upload.

43. UP-05 Errors

UP-05-001 errors occur when the selected directory contains files that are restricted. To resolve the error:

  • Remove restricted files.
  • Click Retry.
  • Select an existing directory that contains the build.
  • Proceed with the upload.

UP-05-002 errors occur when the total files in the selected directory exceed maximum limits.

  • Reduce total file size.
  • Click Retry.
  • Select an existing directory that contains the build.
  • Proceed with the upload.

44. IS-INFO-THROTTLED

You will see this message while downloading a game on the Epic Games Launcher if you previously selected to throttle downloads. To remove this message, go to the Settings menu in the Epic Games Launcher, and then uncheck the Throttle Downloads box.

All Common Epic Games Store Error and Fixes

45. MD-0011-30031: Application not yet released in your region

You will encounter this error if you try to start a download for an app that you own but has not been released in your region yet. You can always check back on the game page or your library for information about the release time/date for a game.

46. MA-0005: an error occurred opening a URL

This error occurs when you do not have any browser set up as the default browser.

A. Setting up a default browser

  • Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
  • Under “Web Browser”, select a web browser.

47. Unable to Complete Sign In

This error message appears when you try to log into your Epic account but have not yet enabled cookies on your web browser or device. To solve this you will need to enable cookies on your web browser/device.

48. Enabling Cookies

If you attempt to log into your Epic Games account and you get the error message below, please be sure to open your browser and enable cookies.

A. Enable Cookies

You can follow the steps below to do so:

For Chrome:

  • On your computer, open Chrome.
  • Click the three dots on the far right side of your screen.
  • Click Settings in the drop-down menu
  • Under “Privacy and security,” click Site settings.
  • Click Cookies.
  • From here, you can: Turn on cookies: Next to “Blocked,” turn on the switch. Turn off cookies: Turn off Allow sites to save and read cookie data.

For Safari:

  • Click Safari in the menu bar and select Preferences to open the Safari General preferences screen.
  • Click the Privacy tab to open the Safari Privacy settings.
  • Clear the checkmark in front of Block all cookies to enable cookies in Safari.
    • If you want to remove specific websites from the list of websites storing your information, select Manage Website Data and remove them.
  • Close Preferences to save your changes.

49. Missing Games Files

If you are encountering a “Missing Game Files” error in the game main screen, please try the following steps:

  • Ensure that Fall Guys is installed in your Steam games library, and not currently running.
  • Download and install the Epic Online Services redistributable from this link.
  • After the installation completes, start again the game normally through the Steam Client.

50. EOS-ERR-1603

If you are receiving this error message it may prompt you to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5. In order to resolve this error do the following:

  • When you receive the pop-up to install the .NET Framework 3.5, click on Download and install this feature.
  • Once this is installed, click on Close.
  • You will see the error appear again. Just close the error and start the install process for Epic Online Services. It should complete successfully.

If this doesn’t work, please try the steps below:

  1. Run Epic Games Launcher as an administrator
  2. Run all Windows updates
    • Type Updates in Windows search and press Enter
    • In the new window, click Check for updates
    • Install everything available
    • Reboot your system
  3. Grant write and read access to Epic Games Launcher
    • Type Epic Games in Windows search
    • Right-click and select Open file location
    • Right-click on Epic Games Launcher and select Properties
    • Go to the Security tab
    • Select your username from the list
    • Click on Edit
    • Select your username and make sure the permissions for Read and Write are set to Allow 
    • Click Apply and OK
  4. Shut down Windows Installer service
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc on your keyboard to open the Task Manager
    • Go to the Details tab
    • Scroll down until you find msiexec.exe
    • Highlight msiexec.exe and select End Task
  5. Run Install and Uninstall troubleshooter from Microsoft
    • Visit the official Microsoft Website for the troubleshooter
    • Click Download troubleshooter
    • Once downloaded, double-click the MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcap file
    • When launched, pick the Installing option
  6. Reinstall Epic Games Launcher on your main drive
    • Press Win + E to open File Explorer
    • Create the following folder/path: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Epic Games
    • Go to the following location: [your install location]\\Epic Games\\Launcher\\Portal\\Extras\\EOS 
    • Double-click EpicOnlineServics.msi and install it into the previously created location
