Installation requires at least 4GB of storage and the activation of developer mode. As with any beta update, users are advised to backup their data before proceeding due to potential bugs. The original post is as follows:

Based on Realme’s past release patterns, it is expected that the company will begin rolling out the Android 14 update to its devices in the latter half of 2023. However, it should be noted that the exact release date may vary depending on the device and region.

For instance, the Realme UI 4.0 update based on Android 13 was launched in September 2022, while the beta testing began in August 2022. Many Realme devices are yet to receive the Android 13 update. Therefore, we can also expect a similar pattern with this year’s Android 14.

Realme Android 14 Features

It is too early to say what features will be included in Realme’s Android 14, as the company has not officially announced the operating system. Once it is released and Realme announces their plans for updating their devices, more information about the features included in their version of Android 14 will be available. Stay tuned.

Android 14 Developer Preview 1 Features

The first Developer Preview of Android 14 (Developer Preview 1) gave us an insight into its features. These features are likely to show up in the stable version of Realme’s Android 14 too. Here are some of the notable features.

  1. Security & Privacy Section: The Security & Privacy section of the Android 14 saw some minor changes in the Developer Preview 1. The subheadings are now more defined with the removal of the associated drop-down menus. However, since each OEM has a different design for this section, we don’t think this be a big deal.
  2. Changes in the Battery Saver: The Battery Saver section receives a couple of changes too. The battery saver now has two options— Basic Battery Saver and Extreme Battery Saver.
  3. Screen-On-Time Makes A Return: Google has now brought back the ability to check your screen on time based on the last time you fully charged your phone. This feature was earlier removed in Android 12 and is now back with the Android 14 Developer Preview 1.
  4. Taskbar Icons With Text Labels: With the introduction of Android 12L, Google brought the taskbar to Android devices, especially tablets. Now, courtesy of Android 14 Developer Preview 1, Google is bringing text labels to the taskbar icons for Android devices with a DPI of 600 or more.
  5. Fast Pair: Google’s Fast Pair feature has now been added to the Connection preferences section in the settings. Currently, the option does not have any function, but we hope that Google will add several functions in the coming builds.
  6. Tweaked Basic Color Options: The basic color options in the Material You theming color options are now more vibrant and visually appealing than before.

Android 14 Developer Preview 2 Features

Here are some of the changes and improvements from the Android 14 Developer Preview 2 that users can look forward to in the stable update:

  1. New System Icon: Android 14 has a new system icon that is inspired by NASA. This logo is now available in various locations, such as system notification pop-ups and when connecting to a PC for USB debugging.
  2. Changes in Gesture Navigation: If you use gesture navigation, you may notice some changes when using the back gesture. The back gesture is now in a pill-shaped container that follows the Dynamic Color theme that you have selected on your device. Additionally, the navigation mode section has been moved out of the gestures menu and into the system section, making it easier to access.
  3. Improved Security and Privacy Menu: The security and privacy menu in Android 14 has been improved, with drop-down menus being replaced by dedicated pages for each individual section. This provides a unique page view for each section, making it easier to access and manage the different functions. The Security settings and More privacy settings sections have also been unified into one new “More Settings” section for easier access.
  4. Material You Rounded Bubbly Aesthetic: Material You has a new rounded bubbly aesthetic in Android 14 Developer Preview 2. When making selections within the settings menu, the area will be highlighted and is now more rounded, similar to the pill-shaped Quick Settings tiles.
  5. Changes to the Lock Screen Widget: The lock screen widget has been condensed to just one line, and the weather conditions are now displayed in line with the current day and date, with no option to revert back to the previous two-line format.
  6. Unique Regional Changes: Users can customize regional settings such as temperature units (Fahrenheit or Celsius), the starting day of the week, and number formats in the “Languages and input” section on their device. This feature works alongside per-app language settings, giving users complete control over the localization of their devices.
  7. Flash Notifications: Android 14 Developer Preview 2 includes a new feature called flash notifications, allowing Pixel owners to get the previously missing notification LED. Users can select the camera LED to blink when a notification arrives on their phone, and they have the option to turn on camera flash notifications, screen flash notifications, or both at the same time.
  8. Wallpaper Preview: Users can now quickly enter a full-screen preview mode when selecting an image from the device’s default image repository to set as their wallpaper.
  9. New Clock Settings: Although not yet functional, it appears that a future update will allow users to choose a custom clock for their lock screen. This feature will enable users to select a clock design that suits their preferences, resulting in a more personalized lock screen experience.
  10. New Monochrome Theme: Android 14 has a new monochrome theme that users can choose as part of the basic colour section. This option will display on-device system themes in either milky white buttons for light mode or grayscale buttons for dark mode.

Android 14 Beta 1 Features

Android 14 Beta 1 introduces several fresh features and enhancements, providing a preview of what to expect in the final release of Android 14. Some notable additions are as follows:

  1. Transparent Navigation Bar Toggle: Users now have the option to make the navigation bar transparent, allowing for easier visibility of concealed information without the need for excessive scrolling.
  2. Lock Screen Customization: Speculation suggests that Android 14 will offer greater customization options for the lock screen, including the ability to modify the appearance of the clock. While Beta 1 only includes minor additions to the lock screen, such as the option to disable weather information, more extensive customization may be available in the final version.
  3. Enhanced PIN Animations: For users who utilize a PIN as their lock screen method, Android 14 introduces new animations when entering numbers, adding a touch of visual flair to the unlocking process.
  4. Live Wallpapers for Lock and Home Screens: Android 14 brings the exciting capability to set distinct live wallpapers for the lock screen and home screen. However, this feature is currently inactive in the software and requires activation through the code.
  5. Improved Authenticator App Security: An essential change in Android 14 is an enhanced security feature that protects authenticator apps against malware attempting to steal two-factor authentication codes. Android 14 restricts the accessibility services and apps that can interact with the authenticator, thereby preventing certain malware from gaining access to authentication codes.
  6. Modem Upgrade for Pixel 7 and 7 Pro: Users of Pixel 7 and 7 Pro devices will experience an upgraded modem when updating to Android 14. This upgrade aims to enhance phone call quality and improve connectivity to cellular networks.
  7. Other Changes: Additional modifications include a new toggle for Bluetooth LE audio and behind-the-scenes adjustments like the introduction of new configuration files for external touchpads.

Android 14 Beta 2 Features

  1. Languages & input split: The “Languages & input” settings menu has been divided into two separate sections: ‘Languages’ and ‘Keyboard.’ This separation allows for better organization and easier access to language-related settings and keyboard preferences.
  2. Font size Quick Settings tile: Android 14 Beta 2 introduces a new Quick Settings tile dedicated to adjusting the font size. This tile offers a convenient way to modify the system-wide font size directly from the notification shade.
  3. New uninstall/trash icon: The update brings a fresh icon for the uninstall or trash action, symbolizing the removal or deletion of an app. This new icon provides a visually updated representation for this common operation.
  4. App info line separation: In Android 14 Beta 2, the layout of the app info screen has been changed, resulting in the removal of line separation between different sections. This modification aims to streamline the interface and create a cleaner look within the app information settings.
  5. New animations: Android 14 Beta 2 introduces new animations for specific interactions. For example, accessing the Wallpaper & Style settings triggers a visually appealing animation. Additionally, performing a long-press action on app icons initiates a new animation, enhancing the overall user experience.
  6. New Security & privacy icon: Android 14 Beta 2 features a redesigned Security & privacy icon. This icon represents settings and features related to security and privacy within the operating system, offering a more visually appealing and intuitive representation.
