1. Force Restart the Device

A temporary software bug or system glitch could bring many problems to your Steam Deck. A restart is good enough to fix most of them. However, if it does not work, you can try other solutions that we’ve mentioned below.

To force restart your Steam Deck, press and hold the power button for three seconds. It should trigger a restart on your device. If the device doesn’t restart, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.

2. Run This Command

A Reddit user (post link) was able to fix the issue by running the following command.

sudo flatpak repair

3. Try This Workaround

Hey guys I fixed it, I went into the terminal, uninstalled flathub and flathub beta then reinstalled it, typed flatpak remote-delete flathub-beta, then typed flatpak remote-add –if-not-exists flathub-beta https://flathub.org/beta-repo/flathub-beta.flatpakrepo

Then do the same thing for flathub just simply remove the -beta part

4. Update Your Device

Your device may be running on an older software version. While devices work fine on an older version, it could also be the source of the problem. Generally, the latest software version includes improvements, new features, and fixes to previously known issues. You should therefore update your Steam Deck and check if the problem is fixed.

Here’s how to update your Steam Deck:

  1. Press the Steam button and select Settings.
  2. Tap on System from the left menu.
  3. Click Check For Updates. The device will not look for updates.
  4. Tap on the Apply button. It will appear if an update is available. If you do not see the button, that means your device is already running on the latest version.
  5. You may need to Restart your device to install the latest update.
