FIX: Amazon Prime Video Casting Not Working or Black Screen Issue

Users have complained about the Prime Video casting not working, or the black screen is showing up on the TV. Amazon’s subscription model allows users to watch premium content on a wide range of devices. Paying subscribers are trying to cast the mobile device screen on a television. Amazon Prime is working on Android or iOS devices, but the content blacked out on the larger screen.

FIX: Amazon Prime Video Casting Not Working or Black Screen Issue

Why is Prime Video Casting Not Working on Smart TV and Smartphone?

Prime is an on-demand streaming service, and they have developed an ecosystem to sell the service to the average consumer. Paying subscribers should know what’s going on with the casting feature, and you won’t scratch their heads over something trivial. I have shared a few valid reasons and learned about the screencasting technology challenges.

Compatibility:

You need a compatible device to share the screen on a television. You can’t connect any random phone to the television and expect the video to display on the larger screen. You need a compatible device, and I have listed it below.

Android TV:

You need a Smart TV equipped with Chromecast. Smartphone or Tablet: Your smartphone may have a screencasting chip inside it. Most Android phones have a “Screen Mirroring” feature, and that’s a different feature.

Screen mirroring duplicates the screen on the television. A screencast plays the video content on the television, and your phone will sit idle in the meantime.
Screencasting Device: You got many screencasting devices out there such as Google Chromecast, Roku, and Fire TV.

Software Bugs:
The software plays a role in screencasting the video content on a Smart TV. All Android TV has built-in Chromecast, and the smartphone has a compatible casting chip installed in it. One software bug can create a problem, and it could be an app or built-in service. We have to look into the smartphone and TV software to resolve the issue.

Connectivity Issues:

Amazon Prime requires a high-speed internet connection to consume the on-demand content. Your Wi-Fi router might be creating some bandwidth issues. Your local ISP might be blocking the Prime since it consumes lots of bandwidth at once. You have to figure out what’s causing the internet packet loss, and how you can solve it. Internet connection interruption can buffer the Prime video, so talk to your ISP right now.

Screen Mirroring:

You might be screen mirroring the Amazon Prime video on a TV. Apps like YouTube, Prime, and Netflix allow the users to watch the video content on one display only.

Screen mirroring duplicates the screen on the TV, and it restricts the users play one video on two screens. You need to get a casting device, or I have mentioned a solution below.

Unfortunately, I came across many tutorials that recommend that users try the unknown app to solve the Prime video black screen issue. I don’t recommend any reader install the random app from the internet because it may violate privacy and steal the information instead.

Restart All Devices

It’s time to restart your devices, and it’s an Android phone, iPhone, casting device, and TV. Smart devices don’t get sleep time throughout the days, and they stay on standby for weeks or months. I request the readers to power off the Wi-Fi router and let the device get some sleep.

Android:

Shut Down Android Device

iPhone:

Shut Down Android Device

Good sleep time discharges the electricity in the internal components, and the hardware gets to rest. Meanwhile, the software can end the session and dump the temporary files. The software restarts the OS services and drivers that create communication. Give all devices a minimum of five minutes reset time and remove the TV from the power socket.

Comments

  1. I followed your suggestion to Clear Android System WebView in Android TV but still get a black screen for amazon and Netflix. It displays sub titles but no pictures. Weirdly it shows a picture if I minimise it to the home screen in portrait mode but no sub titles. If I turn my phone to landscape it goes to black video but audio remains
