5. Close Background Running Tasks
Unnecessary background running tasks or programs can eat up a lot of system resources like CPU or Memory usage literally reducing system performance. Hence, the startup crashing, lagging, and not loading issues appear quite often. Simply, close all the third-party unnecessary background running tasks completely. To do this:
- Press the Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys to open up Task Manager on the PC.
- Now, click on the Processes tab > Click to select the unnecessary task. [Memory consuming task]
- Click on End Task to close it > Do the same steps for other unnecessary third-party tasks too.
- Once done, restart your system to apply changes.
6. Disable Overlay Apps
Sometimes a couple of applications may come with an additional overlay app that basically helps the streamers or gamers a lot. However, these overlay apps can eventually conflict with the game files to run smoothly and may cause several issues like FPS drops, black screen issues, lags, glitches, not being able to use any game modes, etc. You should try disabling the overlay apps manually before launching the game again to check for the issue. Disable Discord Overlay:
- Launch the Discord app > Click on the gear icon at the bottom.
- Select Overlay under App Settings > Turn on the Enable in-game overlay.
- Click on the Games tab > Select COD Warzone 2.
- Finally, turn off the Enable in-game overlay toggle.
- Make sure to reboot your PC to apply changes.
Disable Xbox Game Bar:
- Press the Win+I keys to open Windows Settings.

Disable Nvidia GeForce Experience Overlay:
- Launch the Nvidia GeForce Experience app > Head over to Settings.
- Click on the General tab > Disable the In-Game Overlay option.

There are some other overlay apps that can cause trouble for you something as MSI Afterburner, Rivatuner, RGB software, etc. You should turn them off as well.
7. Clear the Game Cache Data
Well, clearing out the game-saved data on the console may also fix multiple issues with the game launching or multiplayer gameplay. You can try it out:
For PS4/PS5:
- Go to Settings > Select Application Saved Data Management.
- Choose System Storage, Online Storage, or USB Storage > Select Delete.
- Select the COD: Warzone 2.0 game.
- Checkmark the files you want to delete or Select All.
- Finally, select Delete > Select OK to confirm the task.
- Once done, reboot your console to check for the issue.
For Xbox:
- Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide menu.
- Select Profile & System > Choose Settings.
- Select System > Choose Storage.
- Go to the Manage Storage Devices screen.
- Now, select Clear local saved games for the Warzone 2 game.
Next, you can delete the cloud-saved date of the specific game by following the steps below.
- From the Home menu, select My Games & Apps.
- Select the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II or Warzone 2 game.

8. Try Reinstalling the Warzone 2 Game
If the above methods didn’t come in handy, you can try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it. It should help restore the default configuration and other necessary files to run properly on the Windows system. To do that:
For PC:
- Click on the Start menu and search for Control Panel.
- Open Control Panel > Click on Uninstall a Program.

- If prompted, click on Uninstall again to confirm.

- Then select the Ready to Install tab > Select Queue.
- Select the Warzone 2.0 game that you’re trying to reinstall.
- Now, press the Menu button on your controller.
- Select Manage Game & add-ons or Manage App.
- Choose Warzone 2.0 > Select Uninstall all.
- Select Uninstall All to confirm the task.
- Wait for the uninstallation process to complete.
- Reboot the system to apply changes.
- Press the Xbox button on the controller to open the Guide menu again.
- Hit My Games and Apps > Select See All> Go to Games.
- Select the Ready to Install tab > Hit Install for Warzone 2.
- Wait for the installation process, and then restart the console.
- It should fix the Warzone 2 Fetching Online Profile or Data Error for you.
For PlayStation:
- Open the PlayStation home menu > Go to Settings.
- Choose Storage > Select Games and Apps.
- Select Delete Content > Choose the Warzone 2.0 game.
- Select Delete and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process.
- Finally, reboot the console, and reinstall the Warzone 2.0 game from the PlayStation Store.
