Fix 1: Adjust Screen resolution
It is one of the common solutions to changing the screen resolution. Sometimes we puy higher resolution that is not supported by the screen, and as a result of that, the freezing issue occurs. The higher resolution triggered GPU to process it on the screen, but it may freeze the system if the system has a low GPU.
- Open the Settings app from the Start menu and click on System.
- Now select Display and navigate to Scale and Layout, then click on Display resolution.

- After that select, the lower resolution from the drop-down menu.
- Next, click on Keep change on the confirmation tab.

When waking from sleep that was induced by my selecting sleep from the power button, there is no freeze. I have the “freeze” problem only (and every time) when coming out of sleep mode programmed into system power settings. The mouse still tracks, but cannot select anything using either the right or left buttons.
I do not hibernate.
The quickest recovery I found is … hit the old “cntrl+alt+del” command like you are going to force a shutdown. From the options presented, choose “cancel.” My system is then normal … no freeze.
I hope this limited info can help someone determine the cause and come up w/ a permanent fix.
