If we take a close look at this specific error, it basically appears whenever players are trying to launch FIFA 23 on the PC via the EA Desktop App or the Origin client. This particular error throws out an error message that says “Secure Boot is not enabled on this machine.” Whereas some other unfortunate FIFA 23 players are encountering the “EA Anti-Cheat Service encountered an error. Please restart the game.” error message which seems frustrating enough.

It seems that the unrecoverable or the secure boot error is most probably related to the Easy AntiCheat system which is integrated with the FIFA 23 game for security reasons on the PC.

If you’re not aware enough, secure boot is a feature that can be enabled or disabled on the Windows computer. By enabling the secure boot security system, you’ll be able to prevent unwanted or malicious software from loading on the PC when the system boots up. Most modern computers do have the secure boot system enabled by default that’s a part of the BIOS on the PC motherboard no matter whether you’re using a desktop or laptop.

But when it comes to a couple of previous-generation Windows machines, the chances are high that the secure boot may not be enabled. In some extreme cases, you’ll also find that your machine doesn’t even support the secure boot system. 1. Run Origin as an Administrator

If you’re not running your FIFA 23 game using an administrator privilege via the Origin client on your PC then the chances are high that your game launcher file directly getting affected due to the conflict with the User Account Control on the system. You should follow the steps below to set running the game client application file with admin access. To do this:

  • Click on the Start menu > Search for Origin.
  • Right-click on the Origin exe application file on your PC.
  • Select Properties > Click on the Compatibility tab.

  • Make sure to click on the Run this program as an administrator checkbox to checkmark it.
  • Click on Apply and select OK to save changes.

Once done, you should cross-check the issue by launching the FIFA 23 game. If you’re using any other game launcher like Steam or Epic Games Launcher then do the same steps for your respective launcher to grant the admin access. If the problem persists, head over to the next method.

2. Update FIFA 23

For Epic Games Launcher:

3. Verify the Integrity of Game Files

Sometimes corrupted or missing game files on the PC might also trouble you a lot when it comes to the installation or updating of the game. You really can’t do anything for the issue to happen. But most of the game launchers do come with a built-in option to verify and repair the game files automatically that you can use whenever you face any kind of issues. To do this:

For Origin:

  • Launch the Origin client on your PC.
  • Head over to the My Game Library and locate FIFA 23.
  • Now, click on Settings (Gear icon) > Select Repair.
  • Wait for the process to be completed.
  • Finally, reboot the PC to apply changes.

For Steam:

  • Launch Steam > Click on Library.
  • Right-click on FIFA 23 from the list of installed games.

4. Whitelist FIFA 23 on the Security Programs

It’s also a better idea to whitelist or exclude the FIFA 23 game file on the security programs of your PC such as the antivirus software or the firewall software. In most cases, these security software applications can aggressively prevent the game files to run properly on the PC and even block ongoing connections from the system to the game servers. Make sure to follow the steps below to manually whitelist the game file.

  • Press the Win+I keys to open Windows Settings.
  • Go to Privacy and Security > Click on Windows Security.
  • Click on Virus and threat protection > Select Manage ransomware protection.
  • Select Allow an app through Controlled folder access > Click on Add an allowed app.
  • Click on Browse all apps > Now, select FIFA23.exe/EAAntiCheatGameServiceLauncher.
  • Then click on Open > Make sure to save changes.

Alternatively, you can try the following method:

  • Click on the Windows icon on the taskbar to open the Start menu.
  • Open Control Panel by searching it > Go to Systems and Security.
  • Now, open Windows Defender Firewall.
  • Select Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.
  • Click on Change settings > Select Allow another app > Select Browse.
  • Click to select FIFA23.exe/EAAntiCheatGameServiceLauncher.
  • Finally, click on Add > Make sure to save changes.

5. Repair EAC

It’s highly recommended to repair the Easy AntiCheat (EAC) service on the PC to check whether the problem has occurred or not. To do so:

  • Open File Explorer > Head over to the installed game directory.
  • Select EasyAntiCheat > Run EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe file as an administrator.
  • If prompted by UAC, click on Yes to allow it as an admin.
  • Now, click on Repair > Wait for the process to complete.
  • Once done, restart your PC.

6. Enable EasyAntiCheat Service

Sometimes enabling the easy anti-cheat service on the Windows system might come in handy if the service gets disabled or not active. To do so:

  • Press the Win+R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type services.msc and hit Enter to open Services.
  • Search for the Easy Anti-Cheat service > Keep the Startup type as ‘Manual’.
    • If not then you’ll need to right-click on the Easy Anti-Cheat.
  • Click on Properties > Set the ‘Startup type’ to ‘Manual’.
  • Finally, reboot your computer, and try running the FIFA 23 game.

7. Reinstall Easy AntiCheat Service

In most cases, the Easy AntiCheat service engine may cause issues with the installed game or the system. Several reports show that you should be able to fix the error by manually reinstalling the EAC service from the game’s installation folder. To do this:

  • Open File Explorer on the Windows PC > Go to the FIFA 23 game location installed.
  • Now, look for the Easy AntiCheat installer file (EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe).
  • Right-click on the file and click on Run as Administrator from the context menu.
  • If prompted by UAC (User Account Control), click Yes to grant the admin access.
  • Once the Easy AntiCheat engine has been re-installed, reboot your computer.

8. Enable Secure Boot

Secure Boot is a security standard for the PC that helps the hardware to boot securely using the signed software that the manufacturer has approved. It’s one kind of bootloader thing that you have heard from Android users that helps the computer and its system to protect it from external malware or attacks.

As the Secure Boot option can be found on your Windows computer, you must turn it on from BIOS. But make sure to check whether the Secure Boot feature is enabled on your PC. To do so:

  • Press the Win+R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type msinfo32 and hit Enter to open System Information.

  • Once the window opens, you can see ‘Secure Boot State’ as On/Off.

If it’s enabled, then you’re good to go. But if it’s not, then follow the steps below.

  • Open the BIOS or UEFI menu on your computer during startup using the abovementioned steps.
  • Head over to the Boot tab > Go to the Advanced menu.
  • Search for the Secure Boot menu > Check whether it’s enabled or not.
  • If not, make sure to turn it on.
  • Once done, just Save and Exit by using the key as instructed on the screen.
  • Enjoy! You should be able to run FIFA 23.

9. Reinstall FIFA 23

If the above methods didn’t come in handy then you can try uninstalling the FIFA 23 game and reinstalling it again on the PC. It’s worth suggesting reinstalling the game on a different storage drive this time to avoid any kind of disk errors or temporary game files regarding issues. To do that:

  • Click on the Start menu and search for Control Panel.
  • Open Control Panel > Click on Uninstall a Program.
  • Locate and right-click on FIFA 23 > Select Uninstall.
  • If prompted, click on Uninstall again to confirm.
  • Wait for the uninstallation process to complete. You can follow the on-screen instructions to do so.
  • Once done, make sure to reboot the PC to apply changes.
  • Finally, head over to the specific game launcher you use (Steam, Origin, or Epic Games Launcher) and reinstall FIFA 23.
