How to Install Lineage OS 17.1 for Moto G8 Plus | Android 10 [GSI treble]

The Motorola Moto G8 Plus smartphone was released in October 2019. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of internal storage. The device sports a triple-rear camera setup with 48 + 16 + 5 MP, and the front is equipped with 25 MP. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Today, we will guide you on installing the Lineage OS 17.1 on the Moto G8 Plus device by following our guide.

Lineage OS 17.1 GSI developed by XDA Recognized Contributor AndyYan on this XDA Forum with the Phh’s Source of Android 10 GSI (phhusson). You must unlock the bootloader and install the latest TWRP Recovery on your device to install this.

Well, GSI stands for Generic System image, a “pure Android” implementation with unmodified Android Open Source Project (AOSP) code, runnable on various Android devices with treble support.  Yes, now you can enjoy the new Lineage OS 17.1 based on Android 10, which is Google’s 10th version of Android OS with plenty of new features and system UI changes.

Moto G8 Plus Specifications:

The Moto G8 Plus smartphone was launched in October 2019. It comes with a 6.3-inches IPS LCD display with a 1080×2280 pixels resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio as well. It’s powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. While the storage can be expandable up to 512GB via a MicroSD card.

The device runs on Android 9.0 Pie with pure Android UI out-of-the-box. It sports a non-removable 4,000 mAh battery which supports fast charging as well. In terms of the camera department, the Moto G8 Plus has a triple rear camera setup of a 48 MP primary (f/1.79) + a secondary 16 MP camera (f/2.2) + a third 5MP camera (f/2.2). While it has PDAF, HDR, Panorama, and an LED flash. On the front side, the handset features a 25 MP selfie shooter with an f/2.0 aperture lens.

The Moto G8 Plus includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, A-GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, FM Radio, 3G/4G dual nano-SIM, and more. In terms of the sensors, it packs an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, compass, gyro, proximity, and a fingerprint sensor.

What’s on the Android 10 version?

Google has officially unveiled the latest version of Android OS called Android 10. The update is already going live for Pixel series devices. It brings plenty of new features to the device system like system UI, new gesture navigation, improved privacy and location control. The update also offers enhanced app permissions, foldable display support, security features, system-wide dark mode, etc.

The Android 10 also offers built-in call screening, multi-camera API, smart replies in the notification panel, 5G support, improved call quality, bubble feature, live caption, and more. While the latest version also improves battery life, Focus mode which is similar to the Do Not Disturb mode, etc. Apart from that Android 10 also features 65 new emojis. It also comes with direct audio streaming support to hearing aid devices.

Lineage OS 17.1: Android 10 Build

Lineage OS is an open-source and free operating system that is based on the Android platform. It is the successor to the custom MOD, the CyanogenMod, which shut down its operation in December 2016. However, Cyanogen. Inc retained the rights to the custom MOD and gave a rebranding to it as Lineage OS.
