How to stream HBO Max on Roku?
Firstly we would like to look at the simplest method of all, the HBO Max application. Just open Roku TV or the streaming and get HBO Max installed from the Roku app store. Search for the HBO Max application in the Roku app store and get it installed on your Roku device. Then open up that application and start streaming HBO Max on your Roku device. You will need to subscribe to an HBO Max plan to enjoy its services on your Roku device.
Casting on your Android or iPhone:
- Connect the Roku device and your Android/iPhone to the same WiFi network.
- Open the HBO Max application on your Android/iPhone and start playing something.
- When you are in the media player, you will see a Google Cast button in your screen’s top right corner.
- Then choose the Roku device to cast the HBO Max streaming content playing on your Android/iPhone.
If you don’t see the Google cast icon on your iPhone, then go to your phone’s settings, tap on HBO Max and turn on location services and Bluetooth there. After that, check with the media player on the HBO Max application again, and you will see the Google cast icon this time.

Mirroring HBO Max on your Android:
Screen mirroring is different than Google Cast as it creates a complete mirror of everything that is on your phone, including the navigation buttons, menu options, and everything else. While using Google Cast, you can open something else on your phone while the casting is on in the Roku device, but you can’t do that with screen mirroring. If you open anything else on your phone, it will reflect on the Roku device’s screen.
The problem with casting lies in the fact that every Android manufacturer uses a different term to describe or denote screen mirroring on their phone. Perform a google search and see what the name of the screen mirroring feature on your phone is.
- Connect the Roku device and your phone to the same WiFi network.
- Turn on the screen mirroring feature on your smartphone and open it up to connect to the Roku TV or Roku streaming device.
- You will see a prompt asking for confirmation on the screen of your Roku device. Allow that prompt.
- Open the HBO Max application on your smartphone. You will notice that whatever you are doing on your Android smartphone is mirroring in your Roku TV or streaming device,
- Play any movie or show on the HBO Max application on your phone and start enjoying the stream. You can’t use the phone while streaming on HBO Max as the same content will be showing up on both screens.
Watching HBO Max using a Roku device on a PC:
You can stream HBO Max on your PC via the application or the web browser and then connect it to a Roku device. It is like screen mirroring with phones discussed above, but there won’t be any annoying notifications that we often get on our phones.
- Connect the Roku device and your phone to the same WiFi network.
- Open the HBO Max application or open its website on a web browser.
- Now press Windows + A to open up the Windows Action Center and then click on Connect.
- Then click on the Roku device where you want to stream HBO Max. Once the connection is made, you will see whatever is on your PC mirroring on your Roku device.
