Fix: Modern Warfare 2 / Warzone 2 Overheating PS5, Xbox or PC

With heavy gaming, you can expect your computer, Xbox, or pc to produce heat, and it’s normal. There’s nothing to worry about unless the heating scenario turns into overheating. Not every time the cooling system is to blame; the game itself could be the source of the problem. A software bug or other issues inside the game could lead to overheating. In such a case, the developer needs to come forward and fix it through an update.

Exposure to Direct Sunlight for Long Hours

Your device may overheat if you do gaming while keeping the device where it receives exposure to direct sunlight. The outer area of the device will heat because of sunlight, and the inner components will heat because of heavy gaming. This should not be the ideal scenario for playing games. Keep the device inside the house and ensure that the cooling mechanism works.

Vents Are Not Clean

Even if your device has a good cooling mechanism, if the vents are not clean, your device won’t properly dispatch the heat outside the device. During heavy gaming, the device continues to produce heat, and if it does not go outside the device, it can cause overheating. You must ensure that the vents are clean.

Modern Warfare 2 / Warzone 2 Overheating PS5, Xbox, or PC, How to Fix?

This section has mentioned various solutions to fix the overheating issue when playing Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2 on PS5, Xbox, or PC.

1. Turn Off Your Device

If you think the device is too hot, stop playing the game away and turn the device off. While most devices are smart enough to detect overheating, you should not wait for an overheating notification and shut it down. It’s the simplest and easiest way to make your device cool. However, this is not a permanent cure. You need to implement all the solutions we’ve mentioned below.

2. Check for Game Updates

As I mentioned earlier, there could be a software bug causing the overheating issue on your device. It can be fixed after updating the game, provided that the developers have included a fix for the heating issue in the update.

Steps to update the game on PS4 and PS5:

1. On the home, select Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2 and press the Options button.
2. Select Check for Update from the drop-down menu. It may take a little to look for new updates.
3. If an update is available, you’ll get the option to install it. Otherwise, you’ll be shown that you already have the latest version.

Steps to update the game on Xbox One and Series X/S:

1. Select the game from the home screen and press the Menu button.

Check if any blockage prevents heat from flowing out of the device. If yes, remove the unnecessary items blocking the vents and clean the area with a soft cloth to remove dust. Clean the vents from the inside too if you can. This can be a little tough and not recommended for everyone. Also, do note that opening the console will void the warranty.

In many devices, the vents are located at the bottom. For such devices, it is not recommended to keep them on the bed, while playing games. It’s better to place the device on a table before you start the game.
