With heavy gaming, you can expect your computer, Xbox, or pc to produce heat, and it’s normal. There’s nothing to worry about unless the heating scenario turns into overheating. Many players have reported this while playing Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 on their PS5, Xbox, and computers. If you are also struggling with overheating, stick to this guide. We’ll show you multiple ways to fix the overheating issue later in this post.
When your device is overheating, you should not continue gaming. It’s recommended to stop the game and leave the device for some time until it does not get cool. Overheating can cause many problems on your device. One of the severe impacts of overheating is faced by components around the overheating zone. They may get burned out, and you may have to pay to replace those defective components. This is just one of the reasons; I’ll not list them all there. Otherwise, the post will become too long.
Now, you may be wondering what is causing overheating on my device. Well, several factors can lead to overheating on a device. We’ve mentioned them below. You can skip this section if you want to go to the solutions directly without knowing the overheating factors.

What is Causing My Device to Overheat?
There are many reasons your device could be overheating while playing Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2.
Poor Cooling Mechanism
Your computer or console should have good ventilation that constantly pulls out the air from within the device. A good cooling mechanism is a must-have thing when playing heavy games. It’s one of the primary reasons devices become hot when playing the game.
The Game has Heating Problems
Not every time the cooling system is to blame; the game itself could be the source of the problem. A software bug or other issues inside the game could lead to overheating. In such a case, the developer needs to come forward and fix it through an update.

Exposure to Direct Sunlight for Long Hours

Your device may overheat if you do gaming while keeping the device where it receives exposure to direct sunlight. The outer area of the device will heat because of sunlight, and the inner components will heat because of heavy gaming. This should not be the ideal scenario for playing games. Keep the device inside the house and ensure that the cooling mechanism works.
Vents Are Not Clean
Even if your device has a good cooling mechanism, if the vents are not clean, your device won’t properly dispatch the heat outside the device. During heavy gaming, the device continues to produce heat, and if it does not go outside the device, it can cause overheating. You must ensure that the vents are clean.
Now that you know the factors that can cause overheating on your device let’s dive straight into the solutions.

Modern Warfare 2 / Warzone 2 Overheating PS5, Xbox, or PC, How to Fix?
This section has mentioned various solutions to fix the overheating issue when playing Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2 on PS5, Xbox, or PC.
1. Turn Off Your Device
If you think the device is too hot, stop playing the game away and turn the device off. While most devices are smart enough to detect overheating, you should not wait for an overheating notification and shut it down. It’s the simplest and easiest way to make your device cool. However, this is not a permanent cure. You need to implement all the solutions we’ve mentioned below.
2. Check for Game Updates
As I mentioned earlier, there could be a software bug causing the overheating issue on your device. It can be fixed after updating the game, provided that the developers have included a fix for the heating issue in the update.
Steps to update the game on PS4 and PS5:
- On the home, select Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2 and press the Options button.
- Select Check for Update from the drop-down menu. It may take a little to look for new updates.
- If an update is available, you’ll get the option to install it. Otherwise, you’ll be shown that you already have the latest version.
Steps to update the game on Xbox One and Series X/S:
- Select the game from the home screen and press the Menu button.
- Select Manage Game and Add-Ons from the drop-down options.
- Go to Updates. If an update is available, download and install it.
Steps to Update the game on Steam:
- Open your Steam library.
- Right-click on Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2, whichever you want to update.
- Select Properties…
- Click LOCAL FILES in the left-side menu, and select Verify integrity of game files…
- Wait for the process to complete. Any missing files (if there are any) will be added during the process.
3. Clean the Vents
Check if any blockage prevents heat from flowing out of the device. If yes, remove the unnecessary items blocking the vents and clean the area with a soft cloth to remove dust. Clean the vents from the inside too if you can. This can be a little tough and not recommended for everyone. Also, do note that opening the console will void the warranty.
In many devices, the vents are located at the bottom. For such devices, it is not recommended to keep them on the bed, while playing games. It’s better to place the device on a table before you start the game.
I hope this guide was useful to you in fixing the overheating issue while playing Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2. Even after applying the above solutions if the problem persists, it’s probably because of bad hardware. You should contact the device manufacturer to get it repaired.
