Download and Install Lineage OS 16 on Xiaomi Mi A1 based 9.0 Pie

Finally, here is the big update. Now you can download and install Lineage OS 16 on Xiaomi Mi A1 (tissot). The XDA Senior member abhishek987 has started working on the next version of Lineage OS based on Android Pie called Lineage OS 16. But be careful, we are not responsible if you brick your device or do something wrong. This update may not be a stable update and we don’t even say when exactly the next version comes out. So be patient. If you want to try, then take a complete backup of data on your device or create a Nandroid backup using TWRP Recovery.

Talking about the specifications, Xiaomi Mi A1 features a 5.5-inches display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It is powered by Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 64GB internal memory. The camera on the Xiaomi Mi A1 comes with Dual 12 MP and 5MP front shooting camera. It is backed by a Non-removable Li-Ion 3080 mAh battery with Fast battery charging 5V/2A. It also has Fingerprint on the back.

Follow this guide and download the TWRP recovery, drivers and things to start with.

Pre-Requisite:

Instructions to Install:

  1. First of all, You need to enable the developer option and activate the OEM unlock and USB debugging.
  2. Now you need to unlock the bootloader on your Xiaomi Mi A1.
  3. Once you have unlocked, you must install the latest TWRP Recovery on Xiaomi Mi A1.
  4. Now the guide will be easy, boot into TWRP Recovery
  5. You need to Decrypt and Re-Encrypt Data Partition on Xiaomi Mi A1.
  6. You can now take a complete backup of your ROM using TWRP Recovery.
  7. Now you need Wipe System Data on TWRP Recovery
  8. Tap on Install option and look for the downloaded Lineage OS 16 zip file. [Guide to install Custom ROM using TWRP Recovery]
  9. Swipe to confirm the flashing.
  10. Now you need to install the Android Oreo Gapps file. (TWRP -> Install -> Select Gapps zip and swipe to flash)
  11. You can now reboot to enjoy Lineage OS 16 on Xiaomi Mi A1 (tissot).
  12. If you want to root you can either try SuperSU root or you can try Magisk root.

    You need to Decrypt and Re-Encrypt Data Partition on Xiaomi Mi A1.
    Is this done in TWRP? How? I read, that encryption can be removed by formatting data. But how can it be re-enabled?
    Thank you for any help
