When it comes to watching TV and not only a standard TV but a smart TV, users want crystal clear video streaming quality along with a stunning audio experience. Well, no matter which smart TV or which brand you’re using, you might not gonna feel the surround sound experience in that way. Only an external home theater or speaker can do the job. Meanwhile, it seems that Sonos Arc not working with Samsung, LG, Sony Smart TV devices.

It’s worth mentioning that plenty of smart TV users are interested in using Sonos Arc wireless Atmos home cinema soundbar for better sound listening and bass experience whatsoever. Well, if you’re also using the same soundbar with any of your smart TVs from brands like Samsung, LG, or Sony and the soundbar isn’t working properly, then you’re not alone.

So, there might be some possible reasons behind such an issue that you need to know before jumping to any conclusion. For example, you should make sure whether the correct sound output is selected with the smart TV or not. Additionally, ensure whether the speaker is properly connected or not. Sometimes temporary glitches with your TV system, any background running progress, outdated system version, etc may cause multiple issues.

According to multiple reports, the Sonos Arc not connecting or not working issue has some conflicts with the eARC feature most probably. It basically triggers audio cutting out and sound drops issues on smart TVs. However, a Sonos dev did respond on it to contact support. Fortunately, we’ve provided some possible workarounds for you so that you can follow this guide to manually try fixing it out. Now, without wasting any more time, let’s jump into it.

1. Try Disabling CEC on Set-Top-Box

Make sure to disable CEC on the set-top box if in case you’re using a Samsung smart TV. For smart TVs from other brands, you’ll have to find out the specific option to check it out.

2. Power Cycle on Sonos Arc and Smart TV

You should try disconnecting the Arc and all other devices from your smart TV because of the multiple numbers of connected devices once at a time. Ensure to unplug the Arc and TV from the power source for around a couple of minutes or so. After that, you can plug back the Arc and TV cable in.

Note: DO NOT connect any other devices while doing that to ensure the connectivity issue.

You should also cross-check whether the Anynet+ option is enabled on your TV or not. Just run the TV Setup process in the Sonos app > Connect the Arc to the smart TV when the app prompts you to do so. After completing the TV Setup process, you’ll be able to check whether the Arc is playing audio from the Smart TV or not. If everything seems working then you can connect other devices to your TV.

3. Select Sound Output

If in case, your Samsung Smart TV has some issues with the Sonos Arc then make sure that you have the correct sound output selected on your TV. To do so: press the ‘Home’ button on your remote control > go to ‘Settings’ > select ‘Sound’ > choose to ‘Sound Output’ > select ‘External Speaker’. Finally, your Sonos Arc soundbar should be recognized easily.

4. Update Smart TV Software

No matter which smart TV you’re using, just check for the available software update on your TV before going to any conclusion. If your smart TV isn’t detecting the connected Sonos Arc soundbar then you should follow the steps below to check for software updates. To do this, press the ‘Home’ button on your remote control > select ‘Settings’ > choose to ‘Support’ > select ‘Software Update’ > choose to ‘Update Now’. Then download and install the update.

5. Reconnect HDMI Cables

Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting HDMI cables on the TV might gonna fix multiple issues in most scenarios. To do that:

  • Turn off both TV and soundbar devices.
  • Disconnect the power cables and HDMI cables from both devices.
  • Wait for around two minutes or so > Reconnect the HDMI cable to the HDMI IN (ARC or eARC) input of the smart TV.
  • Then connect the HDMI OUT (ARC or eARC) of the soundbar.
  • Make sure to connect the power cables to both devices.
  • Finally, power on the smart TV & then the audio system too.

6. Try Turning On/Off ARC/eARC

Make sure to set the ARC/eARC or the TV Audio Input Mode of the Sonos Arc (audio system) to Turn On or Auto mode. It can fix the not working issue too. This particular option can be found on most smart TVs. So, choose accordingly, and go for it.

7. Set Digital Output to PCM on Sony Smart TVs

You should also try setting the digital output to PCM mode if you’re using Sony Bravia smart TVs mostly. To do so:

  • You can set the Digital Audio Output to PCM on your TV speaker (audio) settings.
    • If the audio system (soundbar) is connected to the smart TV that doesn’t support DTS or Dolby Digital, it might not output audio depending on the type of broadcast or video.
  • Press the Quick Settings or HOME button on the TV remote control according to the model.
  • Then select Settings > Select Sound, Display & Sound, or BRAVIA Settings depending on your TV model.
  • Select Audio output > Select Digital audio out.
  • Finally, set it to PCM, and check for the issue again.

8. Select Audio System Input

If none of the methods worked for you then make sure to press the INPUT or TV button on the remote control on your audio system (soundbar) to switch the input to the smart TV.
