Installing the Stock Firmware

You may think you have the firmware, but how to install it on your device? We have this flash tool called ODIN, which we can use to flash/install the stock OS on the respective Samsung devices. We have put up two guides, including a video tutorial that gives a practical demonstration of how stock OS installation is carried out on a Samsung device.

Pre-Requisites:

Charge your phone:

Make sure to charge your phone before flashing the firmware on your device. If the installation interrupts due to power, your device may brick. We are not responsible for any damage.

ODIN Flash tool:

To flash, you need the latest ODIN Flash tool, which is a tool required to flash all Samsung firmware. Here, you will find the latest ODIN flash tool.

Samsung USB Drivers:

Download the latest Samsung USB Drivers for your device. For other OEMs, check our Android USB Drivers article.

Instructions to Install:

1. Download the appropriate Galaxy stock firmware for your phone.
2. Extract the contents of the firmware zip file.
3. Notice that the extracted files will be in “.tar” or “.tar.md5” format.
4. Now download and extract the Odin tool on your PC.
5. Open the extracted folder and click on the Odin.exe file.
6. You need to connect your Galaxy device to the PC while it is in Download Mode.
7. Notice that the CO port will light up on Odin once you connect your phone.
8. Click the AP button and select the firmware.
9. Do the same for BL, CP, and CSC.
10. Keep in mind that the regular CSC file will erase the entire data. In order to save the data, select the ‘HOME_CSC‘ file.
11. Don’t forget to select Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time in the Options tab.
12. Click the Start button to install the firmware on your Samsung device.
13. That’s it! You will see a PASS message once the installation is complete.
